A power packed trio here, with John Stewart providing the great song, Stuart Smith with the hot licks on guitar and Roseanne's angel voice with just the right bit of grit providing the vocals, it's all you can ask for. My hope is that everyone out there has had or will have had the experience of being this much in love where you can truly say, "our love has turned into a runaway train." It has no equal.

We bought a Dodge Caravan minivan to use as our family car, around 35 years ago. It came with a cassette tape. One of the songs on the tape was this one. I've loved this song ever since. My family members have grown up and away. So, now its just me, for a very long time. The song reminds me of a different time. My life will never be like that, again. C'est la vie, say the French. At least I usually have hot coffee, every morning. At least, it's something I look forward to.

it's funny, we bemoan the use of technology like autotune and digital voice processing, but it's only through technology that we can listen to any music at all. technology and music have always gone hand in hand. back in 1988, people were probably bitching about SOMETHING.

It's always been a dynamite song--no matter that the key varies a little from time to time. But, especially for a live version, this one pulls out all the right stops. And, that lead guitar part? It's total killer! It has all the nuances from large to small that make the studio version such a terrific song. If the guy playing it isn't the same guy who was in the studio that day, he must have an eidetic memory for music. I suppose this is one of those songs that sometimes gets criticized for being too progressive to be called real country. But, whatever the official category, it deserved to be put somewhere important, so everyone could hear it. It's among a handful of songs I put at the very top of my personal list. No one else sounds like Rosanne Cash. She was the pefect person to sing this one.

Loren Johnson The drummer is Vince Santoro, who worked with Steuart Smith in a group called "Babe" early in their careers and with Roseanne and, even more, with her ex Rodney Crowell (and Smith), on albums from the late 80's on. If you want to see Santoro looking a bit different, lsee him with Crowell and Smith on "Let Freedom Ring" or with Crowell on "Telephone Road," both in KZitem.
