I used to watch him in Kronk gym as a youngin before I got kicked out of the boxing program for lack of discipline/just straight beating dudes up regardless of the bell and Toney didn't need training for his famous shoulder roll or those reflexes that boy was a natural if he could keep his attitude and discipline consistent he would've been unbeatable around Kronk before he got big he could counter absolutely any boxing style he was that naturally gifted, needless to say I didn't beat up on that dude.

Roy Jones would have destroyed tarver prior to coming back down from heavy weight. Roy athletic ability was the heart and soul to his fighting style. When his body became drained his legs were gone and he never was the same. Even the few fights he won it wasn't the same. Think about who did tarver decisively beat after he fought Roy, no one. Every fight after the three with Jones was trash. Go look at his fights if u don't get bored.

jones was on the " sauce " . soon after this so was Tony. Steroid use back then was mandatory at that level. But wasn't talked about. I meet a pro from 80's who sparred a lot of middle weights back then. He said it was open knowledge that they all used something. The decline of fighters like jones came after the big bust. A lot of names got brought up. Jones was one of them, Evander another. But they probably all used something at that time.
