I live in south africa love watching these pipers and drummers their great tell your dad super smart but ask him one thing why is the pipes major signals to the left and they turn right where as the brass turn the way the drum major indicates thank him and all those wonderful pipers

Many soldiers from the Isle of Skye served in Highland Regiments in the Napoleonic Wars, and WW1 and WW2, and , still serve. We have pride in the Clans, Septs and Regiments of the Highlands, and Lowlands.

I’ll a Maori from Newzealand and I married a scot who was from galston he was a awesome man whom had so much mana ❤for every one , we hero in nz love and will always ❤and remember and respect the memories and love he has left here with his grandchildren and great grandchildren ❤❤❤love and miss him forever xxx we still go back to Scotland as his ashes are on his whanau xxx

@janetross8601, a few years ago while doing research on my mother's paternal family, I learned I/we are of Scotish highlands descent!!! I was blown away, and teary-eyed!! All my life, when I have heard the pipes being played, something deep inside stirred. I never knew why. Now I know!! I am sooo very proud of my Scotish highlands descent!!

Excellent. Thanks so much for posting this. There’s nothing like bagpipes to stir the heart. On my first trip to Scotland, my mother’s homeland, I sat in the gardens below Edinburgh Castle at dusk and wept as I listened to a lone piper playing up in the castle grounds. That was many years ago and it’s still one of my top favourite memories.

Read (not watch) the Outlander books. Outstanding read. All 9 (??) of the "big ones" and all of the smaller ones. One of only a few series of books I ever re-read.

I just love the Scottish, I’ve never been to Scotland but my late dad used to go every time Wales & Scotland played rugby. I love the Scottish anthem never fails to make me cry🏴

I'm Welsh too, I was in Vancouver Canada, ten years ago, I asked this lone piper, to play "Scotland the Brave" It brought a lump to my throat. Together, with "Flower of Scotland" powerful anthems, both of them.

Truly there's something about the pipes and drums that simply rouses the blood whenever they're played!! IMHO there's nothing more magnificent than highlanders standing in defiance, and in defence, of their ground!!.........well, maybe with the exception of the Gurkhas!! (And my genuine respects to both!!) 👍

I am proud of them all and I don't know any one of them. I would be bursting with pride of a relative of mine was among them. So please thank your dad Alison and give him a big hug from me. I dread to think how many hour preparation of the uniform must take but I think it is the most romantic uniform in the world and appreciate all the hard work. Thank you. X

I've been piping for 52 years. Spent most of my adult life in a California pipe band. (City Of Sacramento Pipe Band). I would love to be able to march in the Tattoo!

I know your band well. We attended many of the Sac area games and danced Scottish Country. There is nothing like the Tattoo. I attended in Edinburgh castle back in 1983 and have never forgotten the power and pride of the music and the people.

Been at the military tattoo in 2013, and it's amazing. Giving thrills all the time I see videos from the tattoo. Spent a week in Edinburgh, had a great time.

🙂 Извини, я просто не понял. Показалось, к чему эти черепа с костями и кулаки в виде ударов? 😄 Я служил в гвардейской танковой дивизии под Киевом в 1986-1988. Мой отец воевал во WWII в 1943-1945 сначала в Европе против Германии, а потом на Дальнем Востоке против Японии. Был пилотом ночного бомбардировщика. В Европе встречался с американскими лётчиками. Очень хорошо о них отзывался. Да и к немцам не испытывал после войны никаких негативных чувств. Хотя и был со своим самолётом сбит немцами и ранен в бою. Уважение даже к противнику, честь и человечность - качества настоящего воина ❤

My family are welsh, in ww1 Lord Lovett bestowed on us the Name Fraser , when I was born Simon fraser insisted I was called Richard Fraser, so I am the proud barer of a famous name, and listening to the skirl of the pipes and drums, I can imagine what Napoleon thought at Waterloo, it is incredible

Yes, do it, it's fab and touching. Plus, when the performance has ended, all the performers go down Castle Hill at about 10.30 and you can see them again, from very close and playing music. I was there every evening of my stay in Edinburgh. I queued early to have the best view. It made the tatoo last longer for me

My Dad ran up Juno Beach in Normandy to the tunes of the pipes. As he was a Scot, in a Scottish Regiment, it stirred his heart.

It is a long held tradition for millenia with pipes and drums to March into battle as our tradition in the US history for drumers and bugles to lead men into the battlefield ...so the pipes and drums are the focalpoint .as the most patriotic of regiments .
