Love listening to this " LIVE" when I am in London....Sarie Marais....OO bring my terug na die Ou Transvaal....sang by the boers in the second Boer war

After the horrors of the Boer wars, Afrikaners and Englishmen could set the past behind and work towards the future. Till this day the British respect our resistance, as seen by the Royal Marines adopting Sarie Marais. No malice, no hatred. Two peoples united by our troubled history, on seperate paths, but forever binded.

Correct. Times change, people change, situations change. My grandfather hated the English because he lost a lot of relatives in the "Boerenoorlog" ( as a lot of Dutch people did) but in WW II things changed. The Germans, who we thought were friends, became our ennemies and the English became our friends. Myself: i have good memories of working together wit both te German army and the army of GB.

@@seamonster936 wow calm down… the Germans wouldn’t have treated you better! Edit: I know the horrendous crimes the British did against the Boers. But the Germans… don’t think the Kaisereich nor Nazi Germany would have be friendly towards the Afrikaners. But I’m happy that despite what happened in the first and second boer wars, the Afrikaners and the English could put their differences aside and work together to create the beautiful country that *WAS* the Union of South Africa 🟧⬜️🟦

Arthur Conan Doyle was ń dokter in die Britse leer in die boere oorlog, hy skryf in die openingsparagraaf van sy boek "The Great Boer War" ń gloeiende getuigskrif van die boere, van wie hy eerstehandse ondervinding gehad het. Nothing strange about this group of commandos adopting the tune of those courageous Boer Kommandos out of respect and admiration. Furthermore consider this quotation, ""Give me 20 divisions of American soldiers and I will breach Europe . Give me 15 consisting of Englishmen, and I will advance to the borders of Berlin . Give me two divisions of those marvelous fighting Boers and I will remove Germany from the face of the earth." Field Marshal Bernard L. Montgomery, Commander of the Allied forces during WWII.

I wouldn't say stealing. It's actually a sign of respect of the brave boers and their resistance against the empire. Most nations have " adopted " song from other nations. Please don't act like this is the British stealing and looting a song lmao. America is full of adopted songs, Uk has adopted songs And most of Europe, and so on.
