I'm just gutted and filled with tears hearing that Jim Seals left us yesterday. Songs like these just aren't written and sung like this anymore. I not only loved their music, I hung on their words, felt the lyrics, the harmonies, the instruments. It's impossibly sad when a minstrel such as Jim Seals has to go. I'll listen to their music til I'm gone, it's so sad to know he's passed. RIP Jimmy. Thank you.

The 1970s AM and FM radio airwaves were a veritable cornucopia of musical styles and genres brought to us by many artists and groups that refused to be pigeonholed. You could hardly change the channel without finding a GREAT song! We were spoiled.

RIP Jim Seals. The tears stream from my eyes as I remember the music you played for us. Your and Dash Crofts songs will always live in our hearts. You were a genius lyricist and gave us so many wonderful memories. I still have most of your songs on my pc. Like a Summer Breeze, you made us all feel fine when your music came blowing gently through our minds. The first time I heard about the Baha'i Faith with its wonderful message of unity which the world needs more now than ever was in your music. You will never "pass this way again" but your legacy endures. "...Oh Ruby Jean,it doesn't seem like a long, long time, since we were born again. Into the dazzling light, uniting black and white. You are the rich brown earth, and I'm the flowers that grow... ...Oh Billie Lee, we shall be free in the years to come, to help build the Promised Land. We'll go where the day springs run, together and live as one. He is the object of our longing, and we're His creation. We'll have children (Lua), of the Kingdom (Joshua). They won't be torn by war, nor will they Kill or hate, or hesitate, to love. Justice.

@@billielee4475 -Well they're actually both girls. Alot of people think it's about a boy - Bille Lee, and a girl, Ruby Jean. But these are the names of their wives, and it was written for them. 2 of their children's names are mentioned also [Lua, Joshua] in the background vocals. Each one sings a different verse using their own wive's name, rather than alternating between the 2 names. Jimmy sings the 1st first about his wife - Ruby Jean, then Dash sings the 2nd verse about his wife, Billie Lee [yep, that's her real name]. Once you realize this, the song makes much more sense, although it seems to work with the idea that it's about a boy & girl who are friends, as well.

@@francescoavila598 - same here. I should just keep my mouth shut. I just tried to look up some of this stuff, but apparently the internet is just a gossip coup. I was going off what I heard myself, but there are contradictory stories everywhere, so I don't know what to think. So much for "research" - which I've been suspecting for awhile is nothing more than asking Aunt Matilda who gets her dirt from Aunt Bertha who get's her news from Joe the handyman who heard it from Aunt Matilda. Similar to the "science" that calculates the age of an artifact from the layer of earth it was found in, which is known by the the dates of artifacts found in it.
