I have the same M77 Mk 2 Varminter (second-generation built in the late 1980s) but in a 22-250 Remington and it is topped off with a Bausch and Lomb 6X-24X 40mm Target Scope. Using my handloaded ammo with Sierra 52 grain HPBT match bullets, the rifle can consistently shoot 5 shot sub-1/4 inch groups on a paper target 100 yards away. I no longer shoot the rifle because both the rifle and the scope is borderline on becoming a collector item.

@@MohamedAlGhanim - The rifle and scope are both in excellent condition, and I kept the original box, paper works and accessories that came with the rifle and scope. The rifle I guess should now be around $850 to $950. The scope is the 1st generation target scope that was made in Japan and has the word BALVAR (Bausch And Lomb VARibable) on it. It should be about $500 to $600.

I have that rifle. I have shot several deer with it. It dropped them in their tracks. It packs a punch. I'd like to add that after the first few deer, I was using reloads for hunting with nylon tips, and more menacing. It's fun to shoot. II once even shot a ground squirrel at 800 yards with it! It's great. I have not tried to shoot further distances. I got it in 1995 and still have not put 100 rounds through it.

Not two minutes ago telling a workmate about this rifle because I too bought mine back in '95, on clearance for $278. Went the 22-250 route over its 220 Swift twin.
