Ours was the first Police Department in S.C. to adopt the P90 for duty/off duty (which was a rare thing to do with the pistol but some of us did) carry. We were also the first department to actually conduct in house testing of more than one pistol at the same time and with more than one type/manufacturer of ammo. In the end the ONLY semi-auto we tested that could hang with the P90 was our "control" pistol.....A bone stock, GI model, 1911A1. Our little department (only fourteen Officers counting the Chief on a good day) fired many hundreds of rounds through our P90s without a single malfunction that I was ever made aware of and the pistols were all in very good to excellent condition when a new Chief and Firearms Instructor came along and decided we needed "new and improved" pistols which lead to the adaptation of the Sig P220 also in .45ACP. Did I mention we were also the first department to make the .45ACP our standard duty cartridge despite initial derision from other departments and state agencies? One other thing....And no insult intended....At the time we were investigating converting from revolvers to semi-automatics the state required that ALL LEOs had to qualify at ranges from as close as "contact" out to (a measured) fifty yards from standing Weaver/Modified Weaver, kneeling (left and right knee), strong and weak hand , from behind barriers (strong and weak hands), and prone. The P90s were amazingly accurate even in the hands of Officers with very little if any previous handgun experience at the longer ranges or handguns period! If I were to run up on a decent P90 and five or six magazines today I'd buy them and feel extremely well armed indeed.....After all, I felt that way with the P90 I purchased out of pocket all those years ago and included in the testing cycle as well as carried on duty for several years after the model and cartridge combination were adopted. Excellent video on a fine handgun that never got the credit or acceptance it deserved. Keep up the great work!

Back in 1993 I was working as an engineer designing commercial door locks. Ruger was supplying the investment castings I was using so I made a trip to their factory to review their processes. While I was there they took me to their "scratch and dent" store where I purchased a Mark II .22, and SP101 .357 and a P90. My host at Ruger took the guns to their custome shop to "clean them up" for me. The gunsmith went over them and gave them each a trigger job so they're extra smooth. My only regret was not buying more guns. The next year Ruger won a giant bid to make mini 14's for the government of India and they no longer had the capacity to make our investment castings. I now own "better guns" but if the house was on fire I grab my Rugers first. I love my P90.

The P90 45 was the second pistol I bought & I still love it. I've had it for 26 years & it's still in great condition. I also like how easy it is to break down to clean. I've been taking my daughter to the range with me since she was young & she was a little intimidated bc of the size, but with a little coaching I finally got her to shoot it. Once she shot it, she was hooked. She could handle the recoil & loved how light the trigger pull was. She started off shooting my .38 Special, but found out the P90 was much easier to shoot bc of the light trigger pull. Now she hates my .38 special LOL . . . I ended up getting her a Springfield XD 9mm for her 1st gun. I chose it bc of the safety features. Great video & keep up the good work.

The P series were indeed great pistols. Here in Las Vegas Nevada the P89, P95, and P95DC were very popular affordable 9mm pistols back in the late 1990s and early 2000s as self defense and security guard pistols. I called these the "Security Guard Special" since I sold so many of them to armed security guys and gals back then. These pistols are very reliable and shoot every brand of 9mm ammo to include reloads. I have never ever seen any of these get destroyed through normal use. I only saw 3 P95/DC models get destroyed, 2 by a house fire and the other got run over by a truck when the guys who bought them from me showed it to me.

Hi Eric and Chad. Love your videos, keep up the good work. I bought my P90D (decock only) around '95. Used it as a daily carry on the ranch for YEARS, never skipped a beat. Shot countless armadillos and coyotes with it from horseback. Just a tank. About 3 years ago the magazine release button spring went south. Sent it to Ruger, they replaced the spring and completely went through it for $30. I'll never get rid of this one. It has my grandsons name on it. VietVet69.

I've got a P89, 9mm version of this gun. It's probably had about 3 or 4k rounds thru it (maybe 300-350 from me), but aside from some outside wear the thing looks and works like it's brand new. Came with two 15rd mags. These pistols were designed for military use and it shows, and so far it's been unstoppable. Either the factory or the previous owner got the sights dialed in tight, she's a sharpshooter and just fun to shoot.

The P85 is the first reliable pistol I ever owned, I got it new when it was first introduced and have taken it as a sidearm every time I go to the range. Love it. In all of these years I only remember one malfunction and it was due to bad ammo.

I had a P90 and P91, they were great. Those old handguns are forgotten about by modern shooters, which is a shame.

I have always enjoyed my Ruger P90DC and just recently bought some G10 Grips to replace the Pachmayr grips that were on it. I bought it used a few years ago for $260 OTD and it came with 3 mags. It has always been reliable. Great video on a nice bargain handgun. Stay Awesome Eric and Chad.

My first handgun was a KP90 in .45ACP and I do dearly miss it. It felt like a brick in the hand until I found Hogue rubber grips, which fit me perfectly. The thing was so big and heavy that even with hot, +P ammo, to me it felt like it had less recoil than most 9mms. Damnit, now I'm going to have to find another one! Never, ever sell a good gun! It took me way too much time and money to learn that lesson.

Thank you guys for doing this video. I have a Ruger P-95 as my CCW and I love it. You were very accurate on how they will start to surface rust quite quickly. The slide on mine started to get some surface rust and now I oil it down every night when I put it away and it has stopped rusting for the most part. Does not affect they way it operates just is there and I can see it a little bit and it's more annoying that anything else. Thank you guys again for a great video and for what you guys do.

I love my p90dc! Over two thousand rounds fired and it has never failed to fire, failed to extract or eject, every time I've pulled the trigger it fires. Any ammo, steel, brass, it eats it all. I have to pretend to have jams for training. It's the most reliable weapon I've owned. Sure, it's heavy and bulky. Makes a great melee weapon too, even more dangerous if you throw it with the slide locked open... it's a friggin four and a half pound shuriken! Great, great guns.

I have the P89 and P95 in my collection. Both blued. I carried a P89 in both my armored car work in the late 90's, and when I worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in the early 2000's...DAO (before they switched to Beretta). Awesome guns!

Justin Delagarza Many are just demonized. Not a typo. They're after everyone that isn't a brainwashed sheeple.

Justin Delagarza...just because there was an add doesn't mean they are getting paid/paid what they used to get. Google-tube has cut people off all across he board, anything they don't "agree" with gets burned...at least in comparison to before the "ad-pocalypse" when they were making ok money for views, likes, and comments.

Justin Delagarza...wasn't bashing your comment, just letting you know they aren't necessarily monetized again just because you had an ad play before the video...and briefly explaining why.

I wish it was back to the way it used to be, I enjoy the hell out of watching the vids chad and Eric put out, and many others. Sad they don't paid like they used to for putting in the work, time, effort and money they do into quality content like this.

I have a P89 that I have never fired. Brad new in the box. I am keeping it for when it becomes one of those as "those were the days". ;-) I get it out and cleaned and check it over every few months. Dry climate (kept) and she is a pretty good safe queen.
