Back when Bacardi still made the pink label 151 proof rum (1990s), I accidentally grabbed a bottle for making Long Islands. (I was in a rush at the store and didn't notice what I grabbed.) I only realized it when my dad asked me to pour him a rum and coke. (The wire flame arrestor gave it away. It was all down bottle after that.) Needless to say, I didn't have a long island ice tea. I had a five mile island iced tea. I also had a ride to my parent's house and would be picking up my truck from my aunt's house the next day. I missed this request, so maybe y'all can help me with the joke drink my friends and I have been trying to perfect: the Tom Cummings. I'm a huge fan of Tom Collins. One evening, while making myself one, a friend misspoke and called it a "Tom Cummings". Everyone got a laugh out of it, but then started debating what would make a Tom Collins become such a thing. The only thing we agreed on was that the final product should be white or semi-translucent white, so that it imitated the look of... well, y'know. Potentially, if it ended up getting thicker or slimier, that would be acceptable too. Some ideas people came up with were: 1. Mix something into the club soda to make it foggy, such as sugar or potentially cornstarch. 2. Modify the recipe so that it has an egg white, making it closer to a White Lady. 3. Use Calpico, either in place of the club soda or in place of the lemon juice/simple syrup. 4. Convert it to a pudding or Jello shot, just accepting that it is no longer obviously connected to the original Tom Collins. I've been experimenting with these options to create the ideal Tom Cummings, but I haven't quite found the flavor profile that satisfies me. It is my white whale. Help would be appreciated.

“When you drive past a car on the highway and it’s on fire, yeah, that’s kind of what it tastes like,” is exactly what I always thought cilantro tasted like too!

The color of the Drew Carre reminds me of how I think the Mississippi must look when it passes New Orleans during Mardi Gras.

As one living in a place wit hot summers, the Whiskey Salty sounds like it'd be great in the Summer, à la Vietnamese salty lemon.

I would be very interested in good alternate herb mojitos or juleps. Mint makes me nauseous, but the drinks always look so good.

You could have done a whiskey salty caramel and save the salt for around the rim

The Harvey grandma banger should have been a traditional HWB, with prune juice in replacement of the orange. 😂

For the grandmabanger I would have used a rose water or lavender liquor.

I like mixing absinthe with sweet sodas. Like Cream of soda, since it compliments the flavour of absinthe.

Interestingly my first thoughts at "whisky salty" was replacing the bourbon with a saltier Islay scotch. The rest of the cocktail I would have to think more about and I'd probably swap the lemon for something earthier like pickle brine as others have mentioned in these comments. Also.... Ramos Gin Flat...

I actually have a drink that i call a golden shower, but it's not a change on a sour, but rather on a gold rush. A golden shower is just a gold rush with a small pinch of salt and bitters added. I think it tastes great.

The salty sour should have been a regular whisky sour with a salted rim, like a salty dog. That nigh actually be good

Why add any sugar to that whiskey salty? Salty/savory coctails are surprisingly nice when done right. And less salt. And from a different source too. I feel inspired!

The devil on my shoulder says commit to a Dark and Creamy or a Stormy Russian, show ginger beer some love by combining it with milk, truly balanced as all things should be
