What is your problem with the word brahmin?

The reference to her caste is important for 2 reasons. First, she broke the then prevalent exceptionally strict caste and social barriers to pursue bharathanatyam. She reformed barathanatyam's form then which included a fair bit of sringaaram - sringaaram was an essential component as the artform was practised by and served the devadaasi community almost exclusively or if not, in the main. Two, the craft is practised as widely as it is today bcos a brahmin woman, Mrs. Rukmini Devi Arundale did not allow caste and social restrictions to hold her back. If a brahmin did not see the artform as lewd and vulgar - which was not an unfounded view at that time, given it was practised by the devadaasi community, the artform can be learnt and performed by everyone and everywhere. It was not to be restricted to places where women from 'decent' (remember the social norms then) families will not step in. Barathanatyam was revived and enjoys the respect and popularity it does today mainly bcos of Mrs. Rukmini. If not for her, the artform may have all but disappeared with the devadaasi community. Not every reference to a person's caste is bad. Not every refusal to refer to a person's caste is good. Everything has a context. One should not take issue with anything without first reflecting on context. Dissent for the sake of dissent has no value. All the knowledge in the World without the wisdom on how to apply that knowledge is useless, worthless and valueless. And Mrs. Rukmini's married name is pronounced 'Air-ren-dale' not the Indian 'Arun'dale.

The need is for historical context. Caste is not a great thing but is necessary for the historical context for this video.
