Today I'm up at a Timewise owned Shell Gas Station in San Antonio TX off Blanco Rd & Churchill Estates Blvd where we have an older Ryko SoftGloss XS2 to check out today. These older Ryko XS systems have been getting harder and harder to find these days, especially in working condition, so it's nice to find this old system. Funnily enough, this system was actually a replacement to an older Ryko SoftGloss XS with on board dryers, and while I do find it odd that they chose to replace an old system with another old system, at least they managed to add a few modern features to this old XS2 to make it perform like a newer system. I did buy the top dollar wash for this video which came out to $14 (a bit pricey for an old system like this) and wash quality I would give this a 7/10 (this may be a hot take, but I believe these old XS systems are nearly the same as the newer Maxx and Maxx 5 systems in terms of their performance, they're just older systems with not as much modern features like the newer systems are), the undercarriage wash was alright (not very powerful unfortunately, but that seems to be the case with a lot of these Ryko SoftGloss systems), the presoak and tri-foam was applied together in the same cycle (that was honestly quite some novel programming there) though the presoak was applied a bit better than the tri-foam was, the soft touch cycle did go well, and like many of these Ryko SoftGloss systems was pretty aggressive and shook the entire vehicle around (that seems to be a common thing for some reason), but all 4 brushes (which were weirdly different colors and materials) and the top brush did profile the vehicle pretty well for the most part, the lava wax application from the retrofitted Color Wave feature had a good coating too, as did the rinse cycle from the same application to wash it off, the surface protection and spot free rinse passes also were applied well, and the off board Slimline dryers did do a OK job (even for not being the most powerful dryers offered by Ryko at the time) drying off the vehicle, and it was nice to see all the nozzles moving as they should. Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed the video and stay tuned for more to come.
