Beings back memories. We had a bit of a nightmare hike doing Top of the Giant. We rode all the way from the campground, then the shale on the trail popped one of our bike tires, and then two of our party were a bit ahead and walked right past the turnoff for the Top of the Giant. I walked an extra 2-3 clicks before we sorted that one out. The moral of the story, bring basic bike tools and spare tubes, and stay together on the trail. The view at the top was stunning, and a bit unsettling at the same time...vertigo anyone? Great vid as always. Can’t wait for Rainbow Falls…we camped there on our way back from Alberta this year at the Rossport campground. Superior was stunning in the morning as the mist lifted…hope you all loved it too!

Thanks again for watching and commenting. We really loved this place. The water is definitely NOT safe to drink right out of the lake! One place a lot of people miss who do the hike to the top is T-Harbor. It is about 10km in on the hike, the flat part that is cyclable, and is an interior camping site. It is where the hike to the top turns inland, so a lot of hikers stop there for a snack. T-harbor has a sand beach, a black sand/rock beach and the T is bare rock out into Lake Superior. A good beginner interior site, that does have the day hike traffic for the hike to the top during the day. But becomes a spectacular campsite for evening, night and morning. Both times I have camped there I have seen deer from the tent evening and morning. You can get out on the T, essentially into the lake for star gazing and the harbor makes a great swim spot. Good for a day hike/cycle if you don't want to do the bike hike to the top. You can see one arm of the T @14:44, the other arm is behind the clouds. See how it sticks out into the lake.

We were at sleeping giant last year in august and it was absolutely packed! There wasn’t one available site, completely booked. I really disliked it because it was overcrowded and noisy. So seeing it so empty in your video looks odd lol. I know I would have loved it this year so empty, but it’s pretty far for us GTA people too. We backpacked one night at the tea harbour site and that was absolutely beautiful. I remember it also being completely booked up, mid week too. The climb up the giant was wonderful and I loved watching it again through your lens. The view from the top is gorgeous, I’m sorry the clouds were blocking some of your view. We also stayed at rainbow falls, and even though it was near the highway the nighttime views of the sky and the city from the shore (I believe it is the lights of Marathon that you can see), were beautiful. The noise didn’t bother us much. Still Agawa bay is my favourite place and we went this year again for July long weekend and then some more. Thank you for the wonderful videos!

We had several people tell us how packed the park was on weekends and very bad camping etiquette everywhere. We were kind of expecting that but were pleasantly surprised. When we were there over the weekend it was pretty quiet. We had no issues and we loved it. Maybe we just lucked out that weekend. Or....... maybe staff at the park knew we were there to do a review and the kicked all the bad people out before we got there.🤣

Great video review as always. We were looking forward to this one because we were there in June. Congrats on your hike!! It is super difficult but we knew you would make it. Its the kind of hike that you cant really turn back. Too many KMs just to get to the uphill part. Did you find the trail rough for your bikes? It was brutal when we were there. Bolders everywhere and even trees in the way. We were glad we walked. We've watched dozens of videos on hiking the giant and this beats them all. Amazing shots of the cliffs and looking down at the clouds is amazing. Safe travels. It's hard to keep your eyes on the road with all that beautiful scenery.

Yeah, the hike was a tough one. The cycling was supposed to make it easier but it's a tough bike ride. Very rough with loose rock and boulders. Three people had e-bikes and two of them broke down due to all the jarring. Connections came loose but we got them going again.

Thanks! Luckily it wasn't too hot out when we did the hike or Cheryl would have died. She is always hot and even with temps in the teens she complains about the heat. When we started on the trail it was about 17C and at the top it was around 21 or 22C. We were in long pants and shirts for protection against mosquitoes, black flies and deer flies. We'd rather wear long clothes than bug jackets and pants, which we had in our backpacks. It turned out that the bugs weren't too bad so we stripped down to t-shirts. Even with the relatively cool temps we were sweating like crazy due to the tough hiking. We would have hated to try to do this hike on a 30C day.

Amazing video. Looking to make our way up to Sleeping Giant one day ourselves. We just got back from Arrowhead. Great park too. I also back country camp and dehydrate my own meals. @CampingwiththeColes

That's an excellent question that would be first in mind for Cheryl. Unfortunately, the only washroom was vault toilets at the head of the trail (the parking lot). For the 11 km there and 11 km back there are no washroom facilities. You have to take care of business as if you were back country camping. For #2, you either dig a hole far from the trail and bury it or you pack it out in a ziploc bag. We had the misfortune of seeing toilet paper and #2 right next to the trail at one point. It's definitely something you should prepare for. Cheryl always packs a trowel, toilet paper, sanitizer and ziploc bags.
