This is an amazing tutorial series Deshon!!! It helped me get started with Sharepoint development. I wanted to know if its possible to use React JS with Sharepoint 2013 just the way you have used Angular JS here. The reason being angular might become obsolete with all the new frontend technologies that are coming up.

You should be able to use reactjs or vue.js for this pattern...any js lib you can include at the main head or before closing body tag

I would recommend checking out lynda for the basic SharePoint concepts. I also did another series on SharePoint basics here on youtube, but it is high-level kzitem.info/news/bejne/yamcu4KIi6dhiY4

Thanks for the video, you think Angularjs is the way to go?
@DeShonClark

Abenet Beyene for sp2013 and sp2016, absolutely. I have not tried React with these older version of SharePoint. But for SharePoint online and using spfx, I would go with React.

Thanks for the replay, what about Angular 4/5 instead of AgJs?
@DeShonClark

I havent tried 4/5 with either. I think 4/5 with es6 and typescript would mesh well with SPFx, not sure about sp2013/2016. Which version of SharePoint are you working on?

Hi Deshon, just a quick question. I am interested in becoming sharepoint consultant, however, I am very new to it. My new company use Sharepoint 2016, as an IT engineer I have access to the sharepoint portal. In fact, my manager has set me up with a dummy site to play with. I would really appreciate if you could provide me with a path leading to Sharepoint consultant. For instance, the courses and books to read, programming languages etc. I appreciate that it is not easy path to take. However, I want to make the most out of the opportunity that I have. Your videos are clear and easy to understand however, I feel like I am jumping hoops. Can you please guide me where to start to become Sharepoint Consultant. Possibly from beginners level to expert in sharepoint.

I think you are on the right track. I recommend taking a look at the lynda.com courses for SP2013....try learning as a SharePoint power user first, this will get you accustomed to what SharePoint can do out of the box before coding is required. Don't worry SP2013 is very similar to sp2016. The SharePoint Consultants will mainly be focused on SharePoint online and learning how to develop in react, angular 5 and angualrJS. These are going to be the key frameworks moving forward. Hope this helps.

Hi Deshon, Much appreciated for your response. I have looked online for a Sharepoint courses. I have found SharePoint Server 2013 Administration on www.pluralsight.com/paths/sharepoint-2013-administration and www.pluralsight.com/paths/angular-js. They seems to be full courses from beginners, intermediate and Advanced. Just wondering if the Sharepoint-2013-administration course would be sufficient to kick start with the Sharepoint Consultant path? Thank you very much with your help.

I think it is a start, but I would not ignore the Power User or Information Worker type training. Those Power User training are not that technical, but they give you a better understanding of what you can do out of the box before the need to customize.

Thank you again for your response. I am really sorry for troubling you. I know that you are busy, I appreciate a lot for taking time to reply to my messages. I have found this course on www.udemy.com/sharepoint-2016-site-owner-user-365-3-course-bundle/. It seems to be good one. Just wondering if you could take a look for me please to see if this is the out of the box course that you have mentioned above. I thought of asking your suggestion before making a purchase. Thank you so much for your help.

hi can this work for sharepoint online
@DeShonClark
4 жыл бұрын
yes, this will work for SP Online, but only for classic SharePoint sites. For the modern SharePoint sites, you would want to use the SPFx pattern for customizing. You will not have full control, and the strategy would be to "supplement" the modern web parts. But if you need an "all out custom" solution, then this pattern will work for classic SharePoint Online. Thanks again for watching.

Do YOU have a tutorial for switching from modern to classic sharepoint...also lm quite new to SharePoint, I've been trying to get webparts from github to use on modern experience they seem not to work when i run a "gulp serve" there are lots of things I really want to learn
