@Zizu: thanks! @PS: the driver who tried to explain to you about the Ethiopian orthodox Christian fasting is confusing you. The Orthodox Christian fasting is similar to fasting in Judaism [Jewish old religion]. Only eating animal products such as meat & milk are avoided or prohibited during the fasting month/s. The rest of the food items (minus milk & meat) are eaten as normal & nothing-else is prohibited [eg: sex, etc]. In the place of meat, Orthodox Christians use lentils or legumes as substitute sources of protein in their meals. Fasters can eat & drink at any time or night during their fasting [except meat & milk]. @Also, NOT all members of the Orthodox Christian are FORCED to fast either like in Islam. Fasting is optional among members of the Orthodox Christians & those who opt NOT to fast can continue to eat meat & milk as per normal; PLUS drink alcohol to their hearts-content & have sex when they want if they can afford these things. [NOTE: there are lots of prostitutes in Ethiopia, in case you have not noticed - SMILE]. Then, once the fasting month is completed people indulge in eating as much meat & milk as possible as if to compensate for the lost month of fasting - thus erasing the reason they had to fast for in the first place! It is a bit contradictory. @Remember: Orthodox Christians remain the politically, culturally & linguistically dominant group in Ethiopia [=ethnic Amharas & Tigres from Northern-half of Ethiopia are the major Orthodox Chrisitan groups in Ethiopia & the historic kingmakers in the empire of Abyssinia/Ethiopia. ALL the emperors or kings of Abyssinia/Ethiopia came from the Orthodox Christian Amhara & Tigre tribes]. @So when they [Orthodox Christian Ethiopians] talk to you about "Ethiopian culture" etc, the Ethiopia they have in-mind is ONLY made-up of members of the Orthodox Christians & speaks the Amharic & the related Tigre languages spoken by members of the Orthodox Christian Church [ethnic Amharas & the related ethnic Tigres of Tigray & Eritrea. An informal collective name for these groups is "habesha"]. @Consequently, Muslim Ethiopians who constitute about half of the total population of Ethiopia - or their culture/languages - rarely crosses their mind. The same goes for tribes in Ethiopia who happen to speak different languages such as Af-Oromoo [Afaan Oromoo], Af-Somali, Af-Afar, Af-Wolaita, Af-Bantu, etc & happen to follow Protestant Christian sects or Islam. These last groups are not considered "proper Ethiopians" though they form the majority of the population. @In a sense, Ethiopia/Abyssinia has had - still has - its own version of the Apartheid system. In Ethiopia or Africa, the more things change .. the more they stay the same - so to speak. OK? Nabad/Nagaatti.

this is not true in so many levels we cant eat or drink at any time children's or sick people fast till lunch time and most of us fast till 3 or some of us can go as far as 6 we only eat vegan food when we break our fast and we don't use bad word or any kind of forbidden deeds during the 2 month we try to get close to GOD and ask for forgiveness for our sins and follow the Bible as much as possible so sex alcohol or any inappropriate thing is forbidden but if their are Orthodox Christians that do that or any kind of sin at that time or if they aren't fasting then they are sinning or just not actually Orthodox following the Bible they are people who aren't close to GOD they are lukewarm and a pretenders cause its is an obligation and a must this 2 month are important cause those are the time that GOD is close to us so this 2 month is where we see and understand the suffering and sacrifice of GOD that's why we don't indulge in eating any meat or dairy products or its where we put anything that we want aside to at least to punish ourselves cause we humans are sinful so of course we are gonna eat meat after our fasting season ends eating meat is not forbidden so i don't get how u said ''eating meat again is erasing the reason they had to fast'' your logic doesn't make sense and you are trying real hard to drag our name it seems like you don't know what you're talking about or have some vendetta against us and their are Muslims and Christians in every ethnicity

@@Yanu-ox4pb - don't be silly! You must be one of the "new age orthodox fanatics" that are taking root in Ethiopia. To most Ethiopian orthodox Christians, "fasting" = not eating meat or animal products. All the rest is allowed. People are allowed to eat, drink & even have s%ex 24/7, if they so desired or if they can afford to do so. Even then, fasting is at best an OPTIONAL activity in Ethiopia's primitive version of a JEWISH, MIDDLE-EASTERN & SEMITIC VOODOO CALLED CHRISTIANITY! OK? Bye.
Damn, lets get our money back shame and stress the BBC ! I wish, there is English translation to whatever you were saying and discussing. Well done chaps.

It's concerning to see people in other countries actively working to build their nation while Somalia struggles with internal conflicts, ultimately undermining its progress. Education could indeed play a crucial role in fostering unity and stability within Somalia.
