You have no idea how much I needed this . I had an extremely horrible birth that ended w an emergency c section.. and when it was all said and done multiple doctors told me it was give birth both ways c section and natural … I am a fit person but I can hardly move and am not recovering well and am in so much pain and I’m bruised from chest to bottom ❤

Some good exercises here. It’s so important to take it easy after having a C section, but it’s not easy to know what to do and I find many of my clients are so fearful of injuring themselves.

I really enjoyed doing these exercises. I've been tense and having stiffness in my back and joints and it seems to have help relieve some of the pressure.

No, in fact if your diastasis recti is larger than 3-finger-widths you should modify activity until you are able to close the gap to less than 3-finger-widths. See our diastasis recti video for exercises to help you close the gap. (Search: BabyWeightTV Diastasis Recti) Once it's less than 3-finger-widths, you can resume all normal activity and exercises.

I'm glad I came across your video. I just hit 5 weeks post op from having an umbilical hernia and portion of diastsis recti corrected (due to recent child delivery). Can these exercises be used for such recovery? The surgeon executed a horizontal incision to consolidate my previous two c-section incisions. I would like to regain some flexibility but, my core is still sore from surgery.

I've been following Becky Choi and these probably are ok pending you are breathing properly and focusing on proper exhale and pelvic floor activation. I just did it and it felt ok but I've been learning proper breathing with physio specializing in women's health and Diastasis. Breathing is your most important thing, and making sure you don't feel pain and don't have doming in your abdomen when doing them.

How do you activate the pelvic tilt? This isn't the same as kegals or pelvic floor is it?

The tilt is a slight movement back on your pelvis to allow your back to sit flat. Engaging the pelvic floor is the same as kegel but tilt is different

I had a C-section 16 weeks ago and still have a lot of pain time to time I was told it could take upto a year to get back to normal Someday's I can be fine and others I can hardly hold in the tears from the amount of pain i am in I Want to work out and get back to normal as much as i can but worried about hurting myself in the process :(

Sarahh Taylor Sorry I missed this comment! Are you still having discomfort? Pain at the incision site definitely needs to be addressed by your doctor. Back pain can come form weak abdominal muscles and postural problems. Good luck! Try some of the other postpartum videos on babyweight.tv

TheAsiek82 You can start some exercises even just a week after a cesarean but only very gentle (you can find them in the other videos in this series). The exercises in this video are specifically for the 4-6 week after a cesarean period

BabyWeightTV This is not true for most people! I"m not really sure what you mean by very gentle exercise, but anything more intense than kegels and abdominal breathing is off limits.They say to wait six weeks after a cesarean to begin any type of exercise. I know it's annoying, but it's really worth the weight, especially if you are planning on having more children, and even if you aren't, you might change your mind.

Simcha Babaev This is true for most people... you are lifting a baby and need to use your abs. It is VERY important that it is only GENTLE exercise though, like those featured here. I have consulted many physicians before making these recommendations.
