Wonderful video, Frank and Leslie. It’s great to see you both enjoying the boat and taking her to sea. There’s no question that you purchased the right boat for you. I know it can be daunting to buy a boat that’s over 20 years old, but this just goes to show that a boat like this in the right hands can be just as capable now as it was when she was new. I was right ;) Fair winds and following seas :)

James, you were right! A boat in the right hands! ;). Seriously though, thank you. As you know she underwent a large overhaul of systems, piping etc.. Effectively a new boat in many critical areas. We have also been sticklers for fixing anything and making improvements where necessary (with the YachtTech team execution). Now Kariwa is getting a facelift outside ...

Great sea boat the Nordhavn 62. I've done many miles on one including the same trip you guys just did. We went inside at Belize City to make it more comfy for the owners and their guests. Recommendation, loose that Chinese CQR and step up to a better anchor. Enjoyed the video.

Looks like a lot of fun. The only thing That I notice about the Nordhavn is the constant drone of the engine exhaust. I think that I would prefer a wet exhaust so that you would not hear the noise.
@MVKariwaN62

Nordhavn have boats that are wet exhaust also... Personally I like the fact we have keel cooled Main, Wing and AC... it limits issues with RAW water and sea chest issues. I understand your comment but it is not an issue for me.

Be careful with the patch it can cause ocular damage in some people due to their physiology they had a scare on mermaid monster which is another North Haven yacht at 55 when they thought that one of the crew members got a bad side effect from the patch that you're using for motion sickness

Scopolamine, also known as hyoscine, or Devil's Breath, is a natural or synthetically produced tropane alkaloid and anticholinergic drug that is formally used as a medication for treating motion sickness and postoperative nausea and vomiting. If you take on water in Guatemala make sure you're running it through a biofilter before it enters your tanks I would hope they have good clean water standards like the rest of the westernized world but I would not risk it by not putting a filter in line with the hose that you're going to fill with

The difference in navigation in my times, late sixties, and on was, is this: we relied on our personal observation, frequent, constant. Today you trust in electronics positions believen it is sharp on but it is not. If something fails you do not realize and you do not know what to do.
@MVKariwaN62
2 жыл бұрын
Sooo... I spent twelve years at sea, and am a qualified Master Mariner. I learnt to navigate with celestial navigation, no satellite communications and no GPS. I still retain a healthy respect for the "look out the window" principals. Anyone who keeps watch on my boat is required to do the same. Electronics have come a long way, they are a part of safe navigation as just one of the tools.

You arent sailing, its not a sail boat. You are motoring a Nordhavn.
@MVKariwaN62
11 ай бұрын
Sorry but we have to disagree. Sailing is a term for all vessels moving on water. Big ships sail from one port to the other. Cruise ships advertise their sailing dates.... Of course you can also use the term sailing or motoring as the form of propulsion, which sailboats also use both. So would you say the sail boat was motoring whilst sailing?
