Sakin or Sakin gata is a traditional steamed rice cake and is a staple snack item made during important Garo festivals like Christmas, Wangala or any other important events. This special rice cake is made of pounded rice and sesame seeds. Sakin has a nutty essence due to the addition of sesame seeds and has a very soft texture which melts in mouth.
This dish is a must have treat during the festive season with a piping hot cup of black tea.
