I just had my last day working at a cabinet factory yesterday. I hand sanded boards next to an industrial sized heater coming down a line for 12+ hours, 5 days a week, for a year in 100 degrees or hotter metal building, while getting sober for the first time and dealing with extreme PTSD from an attempted murder I had just survived,I had to start taking magnesium pills cause I could feel my pulse in my hands from all the nerve and joint damage. I thought I was seriously going to die or take my own life on a daily basis. Watching this video made me want to puke, I don’t know why I typed in hand sanding. I swear I’ll never touch a piece of sandpaper again in my life. Thanks for the video. All the tips were accurate and spot on.

I half the sand paper and split it in half. Using all sides of grit for equal sanding. The hands are the trick in smoothing. Including the feel of events. Experience matters in judging.

Great, concise video. I learned just what I needed. May I ask your advice on one thing, please? I paint birdhouses that I have purchased at craft stores. I'm not quite certain what # sandpaper to use. Thank you, in advance, for any help you may be able to provide.

The powered ones leave tiny scratches across the grain and stain will highlight them. Wet the wood with a tiny bit of alcohol to check for scratches.
