Hi Aurikatariina! I have written here before and gotten so much support from this community. Since then, my mom died from cancer and I went down an evil spiral again, and unfortunately, alcohol got involved this time. I’ll never forget the Horror House. It was extremely upsetting and frustrating. The way the tenants and courts treated the owner was horrible. This kind of mess really creates a vicious cycle of depression and anxiety, and it always ends in a feeling of hopelessness. Depression starts the mess, anxiety makes you feel shameful and paranoid that someone will see it, depression worsens, and the cycle continues. I grew up in a filthy home, and it's hard not to do the same. My house would be well on the way to becoming something like this if it weren't for the fact that my fiancé and I take antidepressants, hold each other accountable, and clean as a team. Our house can get somewhat bad at times, and we feel so much shame for it and are embarrassed when family stops by and steps inside. Lately, we've made it a point to deep clean once a week, or at least once every other week. It definitely helps with depression to maintain a clean home.

In my country the landlord can visit but they have to inform the tenant beforehand. Of course it's their house, but it's somebody else's home and I don't think it's right for the landlord to just enter the house without notice or anybody there to let them in (if it was my house, they would be attacked by my dog if they just entered without me being there). But our renting contract has rules that protect the landlord's rights. The house is inspected before the tenant moves in, the original state of the house is carefully documented. And when the tenant decides to move from the house and end the contract, there is another inspection to make sure that the house is being handed back in the exact same conditions as it was originally. If anything is damaged, the tenant is expected to repair it and if they don't, they will be fined or sued.

The reality is that we all probably know someone struggling & suffering with this type of living situation due to depression, addiction, ptsd, etc. People become very skilled @ hiding their struggles & keeping people out of their homes to avoid embarrassment & judgement. It takes courage to even ask for help. We have to be kinder, less judgmental & more supportive of each other. Of course, in many cases, we can be our own worst critic/enemy and the voice in our head holds us hostage & prevents healing sometimes. I grew up living in this thinking it was normal. Im still slowly learning. But i got the house somewhat back in order. I hope i move soon but i can't keep a job because people keep buying buildings out or something always happens medically. So I'm currently without a job right now but to this day I'm still picking up after grown ass people. Which is my own family. I can't do everything on my own but I'm glad that I watched your videos to do it because nobody deserves to live in this. I don't really have that much depression anymore. But I still find it hard to get motivation. Unless I'm watching a video which it shouldn't have to be that way.

Just found her. She seems so very sweet and she's absolutely beautiful. Hope she finds a new great guy. Maybe she has already. Hope good fortunes come her way for helping so many.

It amazes me that you are able to do all of this mostly by yourself! If you watch an episode of hoarders sometimes even a whole team and production can’t get done what you do

Can I give you a hint? Try removing the water from the toilet and then applying harpic and let it act. Your job is amazing

I am currently decluttering and cleaning lots of stuff in my home and I remembered you said dish soap is a gamechanger. It is! I got my oven clean just by soaking it with dish soap and hot water and scrubbing it with steel whool. What a difference! Thank you for your tips!
