Cristi, this is one of the best TIME-SAVING TIP that I have seen on Camtasia. I wish I knew about this a few months ago, it would have saved me a BOATLOAD of time (this is a technical term) on some videos that I created where I was dragging and dropping mouse cursor effects for EACH video clip that I had inserted.

Thank you! I am glad you find it useful. The thing with Camtasia, sometimes you have to think a little bit outside the box. Many workflows don't have to have a specific function built for it -- just using what's available.

Hi Cristi, WHAT A HIDDEN almost secret TIMESAVER!!! And you dug it up. Who would have thought that a placeholder can do magic in juggling and stacking various effects. WOW! This video is fantastic and extremely useful! Thanks a ton!!

I've been doing this for a couple of year for my Webinar Replays where I have cursor effects, etc. I created a Placeholder and added to Library, called it Webinar Replay. Good tip.

Yeah. I also use these for removing green screen and applying audio effects to camera recordings, all in one go.

Super time saving tip Cristi. I do similar in terms of saving and reusing cursor effects in a placeholder, however I create a template with the placeholder then create new project from template.
@Graphicious

Yeah, that's one step further to make your whole template come preloaded with them. Thanks for sharing!

Excellent information, thank you very much Cristi. I want to ask you a question, how can I put text with a border of another color, it is that I have not been able to do it. for example, white letters with black borders. Thank you very much for your reply. Greetings from Colombia.👋

Thanks a lot! Camtasia doesn't have a function for outline on text, so you have to use workarounds, like the one I demonstrate here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/k6R9mIN9b2qTeII

Wow Cristi... thanks for sharing your Camtasia knowledge with us here man! Quick question... if I have some settings set for a bubble head video with pop-out effect... is it possible to save those settings and quickly add to another tutorial video?
@Graphicious

Thank you! Are you referring to the talking head example in my other video? That does include several layers of things, but I guess you could save it to your library with a placeholder instead of the clip of the talking head, and then bring that in on a new project and replace the placeholder with your new video. I hope I'm understanding what you mean.

Hi Cristi, Could you please make a video about Effect Stacks - I seemed to have missed the basics and would appreciate some background on everything about Effect Stacks. Many thanks

Happy to consider that but there's not much to it really. There's not really a thing called 'effect stack' in Camtasia. I called it that in this video, but it just means 'stacking' a bunch of effects on top of each other. In this case, I'm saving that clip as a placeholder so the effects get saved with it. But I can't think of what scenario I could make a video on stacks, other than just explaining that you can use multiple effects on the same clip and maybe build the next effect onto the previous one. However, I've noticed that when I tried that, Camtasia seems to mess up when you start turning them on or off or removing them. Adding them again won't achieve the same result - I've experienced this particularly when using color effects, stacked.
