I graded a lot of kiln dried beech for AWP, it went to a Mexican customer, they usually bought all grades.

I like how you explain why you make your cuts . I would like to see a bit more of the far side so we can see the log when you turn it and see the lasers on the log . But otherwise it is the best Sawmill channel I have seen so far . 🤗

It crazy how much slower you’re running that beech through the saw. Besides the fact that beech is hard and super dense. Up here in the upper peninsula of Michigan. We come across lots of beech. Me and my son cut firewood for numerous people in the fall. And the majority of it is beech, ash, hard and soft maple, ironwood, and oak.

It makes great firewood! And ya it’s quite a bit harder than poplar

Good video 👍 I love beech for firewood, when seasoned well it burns hot and burns down to a fine white ash. Makes good durable flooring, but there is a lot of waste working around the natural defects.

We have a jig that sits on the tie and where the tracks sit has to be free of wane rot. Ties can’t have and white fleck cuz they consider that rot or decay

Question , how the heck do you calculate the size , quantity and quality of lumber that you can get from a log?

I was interested in hearing about beach wood. I have a log I want to mill on my Wood-Mizer LX150. I hope it's not full of defects.

I'm curious as to whether or not you have beech bark disease and beech leaf disease down that way. It is killing our beech up here in Maine. The District has a propagation program where we go find clear legacy trees and clone them for planting back into the forest. It is the only mast tree that we have in northern Maine and the black bears rely heavily on the beech nuts.
