One thing I’m not seeing brought up that I feel is very important. Are you plugging your saw directly into your dust extractor or are they being powered independently? I’m extremely nervous to run my saw through the vacuum based on the warnings regarding the amperage required to power the saw. I’m afraid it’s gong to burn out the vacuum out ?

Fantastic question! So I am plugging in the extractor and tablesaw on separate circuits, preferably 20 amp circuits. On the same circuit, both machines are over 20 amps, so yes you’re starving them for power, and if you do enough cutting, it will eventually trip the breaker. I will however plug the Kapex mitersaw into the extractor, and other small tools such as routers, sanders, etc.

Does it work with fein vacuum

As long as the hose has a 27mm end, yes.

Would this dust collection saw guard fit on a SawStop CTS?
@blacklabelcarpentry

It would depend on the riving knife setup. That may be a question for the SawStop technical support guys.

Wow, what a great idea. I have the 2nd generation Jobsite pro and had a split dust collection system that someone had detailed on the web. It worked but was rather cumbersome and had several parts to it, so it kept falling out of the lower dust port and eventually the plastic 'Y' connector broke and I had to tape it together to make it work. When I saw your video I was very excited about the Festool hose set and immediately bought it. I was expecting, based upon comments, to have to find an adapter to fit the lower Jobsite dust port but to my amazement the Festool connector fit perfectly! I am not using my Festool CT dust extractor but my larger dust collection system with a cyclone so I had to put together an adapter to fit the 4" hose. To summarize, my experience has been that the Festool CMS hose set works perfectly with my Sawstop Jobsite Pro 2nd generation with no adapters at all. It real was plug and play. Thanks for your video, it has solved an ongoing workshop issue for me.

Ahhh that’s fantastic to hear Kevin! I’m really glad the video helped. I was in your spot once and I couldn’t settle for a setup that was bulky or required multiple parts, i wanted something plug & play, which the CMS hose does great. Yes, if you’re using the larger hose on the bottom, it hooks right up. My adapter was to fit the 27mm hose at one point, and then it worked for the 36mm (outside of the adapter) once i got my CMS hose. If you’re on instagram, i have some content on their too. I haven’t posted to KZitem in quite a while now but i am planning to introduce some new educational content! Thanks for commenting

Ummm how did you plug a normal 30mm size hose into the back of the saw? Was that an adapter? Mine has a 60mm opening and I can’t find a reducer

I bought a tapered reducer from Home Depot. I believe you could find one on Amazon

You're welcome! It's a great addition and makes cutting more enjoyable. I don't get any commission, but I appreciate the thought. USTF is just a great dealer that i deal with and i believe they deserve the business. Thanks for watching!

Could I just buy the Y splitter and hose and use it with a rigid shop vac, assuming I have an adapter?
@blacklabelcarpentry

Yes you can. The Festool CMS splitter hose will hook right up to the ridgid vac as the port size is the same. Or you can build you own of course

Thanks for the Festool CMS Y Hose suggestion Are you using a reducer in the back on the Dust Collection Port? I just purchased a Jobsite Pro and my Dust Collection Port looks different from your video (specs are 2-9/16" outside and 2-1/4" inside). Does the Festool CMS hose fit that? Last question, I can't find the size specs for the Festool CMS hose kit...do you know the dimensions for end of the Y? I want to hook this up to a 4" dust collection system and not sure what I will need to adapt.

Yes i have a reducer on the tablesaw that i got from home depot. The end of the CMS hose is 36mm on one and 27mm on the other. the actual large port size I'm not sure of, but it fits the standard size which i believe is 2.25". All you need to do is order the CMS hose kit, and the reducer for the tablesaw. The CMS hose will plug into the Festool vacuums without any adapters

@@blacklabelcarpentry Thanks for the great video and idea. Any chance you can recall what that adapter is? Can't seem to find anything that fits the bill.

@@asbruns All i remember is finding an adapter in the home depot vacuum section. The adapter was a touch smaller than the port of the saw stop so i did add a small screw, but the festool hoses fit perfectly

With the blade guard dust collection do you still have a hose on the original exit
@blacklabelcarpentry
3 жыл бұрын
yes i do. The hose is split so i have 2 points of dust collection. If i remove the blade guard, i still receive good dust collection from the larger port below.

Love this video, man. Nice work on the research for this. Could you share what specific reducer(s) you found to work for this purpose on the saw? I bought every adapter that my local Home Depot had, but they were all either the same exact size as the opening (meaning it wouldn't fit inside or outside the saw) or they fit inside, but it wouldn't fit snug inside (unless I put duct tape or something).
@blacklabelcarpentry

Thanks! So my reducer was a hair smaller than the actual opening of the saw stop so i ended up tapping a screw in the side. It wasn't much smaller, but would move when removing the hose. I think Amazon should have something. Powertec makes a lot of adapters for dust collectors and vacs

@@blacklabelcarpentry I noticed that the hose end that fits into the vac also fits directly into saw's dust port. I haven't tested if the 27mm hose fits into the blade guard dust collection port out of the box yet, but assuming it does, another solution here might be to buy a y splitter and a second copy of the cyclone hose (part 204799), since that's got the same opening on both ends. It's not really a cost saving, since splitter and the replacement hose come out to $135, but it is potentially simpler.
@blacklabelcarpentry

@@TheBQ92 Yes that is correct. The 27mm fits directly inside of the blade guard port. The festool CMS hose is perfect for the application as its ready to go

@blacklabelcarpentry

Thank you for watching! No modifications to that actual vacuum but ill give you a break down. I added the Oneida Dust Deputy which comes with a black 2.5" hose that plugs right into the vac itself. The Festool Hose then plugs directly into the side of the cyclone. From there I plug the festool hose into whatever tool im using
