These Hellraiser Schecter are brutal mahogany pieces, I think that's what made them sound so low and singing. Maybe less glasy than the competitors, but I prefer Schecter though

They all almost sound similar in the mix that it doesn't matter which guitar anymore. By themselves, the Schecter sounds dark, the Ibby is somewhat bright, while the Agile is surprisingly balanced.

It depends on how your listening to the track. Mobile device or PC what kind of speakers/headphones you're using, EQ settings etc. To make any claim like this "comment" is pointless since 9 out of 10 aren't using equipment to truly hear the real difference in the guitars as opposed to device/platform settings. Lol but I'm sure you're smart in other things.

Your 8 string tones are consistently the best of anybody's. Been fighting to get that clarity from the super low notes with mine, went really light on the bottom string (.072 for E/F# at 27.5") and it's just about there.

That is the secret... light AF strings that you need to learn how to handle but the tone..... I am using a .090 in B0 and in A0 in a 30 scale guitar, clear as hell, no mud at all.

but the bass at like 2 mids at 8 highs at 7. then in post EQ get rid of anything below 200 hertz with a light roll-off 200 to 2k is is what you wanna boost then drop at 2k to 5k so there's room for the high bass frequencies and boost 5k to 7k and put a roll-off after that.
@CrzyWzrd4L

@@CyclesAreSingularities If you have to make EQ moves that drastic, you’re using the wrong plug-in and IR. Your IR and speaker make the biggest difference in tone, and lower tunings tend to work better with 16ohm speakers. Try a Celestion Creamback IR close mic’d with an SM57 and either an Eminence DV77 (pick a mic that captures a more aggressive profile), or a Marshall V30 (similar sound profile as the DV77 but more aggressive).

Still to date am waiting for an 8 string that does not sound near identically poopy as the other. I have played 7 sting for 18 years, I have no hate for more strings but 8-9 string just sound so bad to me. Thank you for the video, again no hate... just don't understand why people bother with 8+.
@Snavels
3 жыл бұрын
You're not playing the note to be heard as an actual note, you're instead going what James Hetfield said he wanted to do and that's "Play drums on the guitar" that 8 string is mainly for percussive hits. Especially palm muted.
@FEV369
3 жыл бұрын
@@Snavels I do understand what it is to play guitar and not just play notes. My point was that it's like hitting a snare that sounds just like anyone else that hits that snare... and it also sounds like poop. Again I'm not here to tell people how to play or what to play. I'm not here to attack anyone either, but I have seen no wide spread adoption of 8-9 string guitars and I can't help but wonder if it's because 1: it all sounds the same, so once you hear it, you heard it and 2: It sounds like poo poo. I could pick up an 8 string right now and play it, in fact I have. I was not like, "this is going to suck because I think 8 strings suck!" I just played it and instantly was like, wow, this sounds identical to everyone on youtube and also like poo poo. 8 strings seem to have a problem where you must play individual notes, pref quickly. BURP, BURP! BURP! Any lag and its just BUUUUUUUUURP! and if you play it with any other strings it sounds indistinguishable. I'm not saying nothing ever sounds good on an 8 string, rather, it's just really rare to me. I thought about buying an 8 string because I just bought the new headless Ibanez burl 7 string. I owned the Universe UV777P for about 18 years... In fact, the reason I see 8 string videos like this one is because I considered an 8 string, but then I hear poo poo and realize no good can come from it hahaha.
@Snavels

@@FEV369 @david abe yeah, it's not for everyone. Personally, too much distortion just destroys the sound, but I believe it can sound good. Listen to these tracks played on 8 and 9 strings: Black Ops "115" (8 string) At Doom's Gate (2016) (9 string) Rip and Tear (8 string) BFG Division (8 String) Rust Dust & Guts (9 string) (Find the last 4 on Mick Gordon's Channel, they're the ones produced by him) Mick Gordon (he didn't do 115) has a distinct sound and I think is one of the best utilizers of the 8-9 string guitars
