Our pleasure Leonardo… glad you feel that way about our work. As you can see, the SCOPE series already caters to a tiny tiny fraction of a small group, generating next to no views. @James.G.S

Thanks for this amazing content. The coating removal was the most intriguing. After you remove the coating (front element for example), what determines the flare colour?
@MediaDivision
2 жыл бұрын
Hey James.... thank you so much for your very generous support. We salute you! After a lot of experimentation I can tell you this much: You can totally see how flares will look by looking at the reflections shining a white light in to the lens. muted reflections=coated / unmuted reflections=uncoated. Coatings give a reflection a color bias so, coloured reflections will also show you the flare color. If the reflections has no color bias, it is likely uncoated and flares will fall into the light source color. NOW, there are many more surfaces within the lens (look at the diagram we show) and even the coating on the backside of the front element and two further ones in the first doublet will give color casts unless coatings are removed too. As you see in our example, the neutral main flare is mixed with some blue and green from those surfaces. The back elements shows a secondary flare with it's own characteristics following the same scheme. I hope this helps a bit... if you have more questions, go go

Best solution I’ve found is the aivascope 1.5x. Very affordable and terrific results. What’s more, I found that if you pair it with the Sirui 1.33x anamorphic lenses, you end up with a terrifically sharp 2x anamorphic setup with great flares (if you use the amber coated aivascope which really helps tone down those very harsh blue Sirui flares)

Thanks... the final part of the SCOPE trilogy, yes. I wouldn't know what more to do about anamorphic and I am pretty done with it. KZitem has limited support for anything not 16:9, everything DIY in this is shot 16:9 and which of the many different anamorphic aspect ratios would be the preferable one? The one that happens to suit your screen?

Chinese manufacturers like Sirui and Laowa are making anamorphic lenses for consumers recently. Haven't tried them yet but it would be interesting to test them.

Sirui, Laowa, and Great Joy all contacted me. To pull something off that is worth watching it takes time and money, and none of them felt it was worth it, so I had to decline. Why would I pay to do their marketing?

@@MediaDivision Makes sense. They have always been content with "word-of-mouth marketing" through the years. Works with rental companies apparently.

This is outstanding. Would love to see some Iscorama....also if the uncoating process can be done in an Iscorama 54. Cheers from Argentina.

Thanks...well, we can't do it for all lenses... how could we effort that and who would watch that but 12 people.

once again, some fantastic work here ! Very informative, and so nicely executed ! I'm looking to add something very special to our way of filming, was thinking of setting up some 645 lenses on our son a7s3 paired with Aivascope 1.5x . That would be some incredible killer combo, don't know how practical this would be though .. ever tested this (since you posted the 645 Medium format video I hope you did haha)

Thanks a lot.. glad you enjoy. We have 645 + anamorphic combos... like we tested one in SCOPE2 but not with Aivascope as we don't own one.

@@MediaDivision yes seen this with the Letus, I own their gimbal helix and love their products, but their adapter is not practical and interestig to me. I figure out that a 50mm with AivaScope could fit with a FF sensor, maybe even 45mm, so I'm going to look into that and dive further to see what could be achieved with this combo. Again thanks for the incredible work you do, and the tests done with the 80mm 1.9 are glorious ! keep it up !
