I used to watch this back in the day and laughed my butt off. My grandmother watched it with me and we laughed like crazy because of the talent of this group of artists. She was dying of cancer and they helped make her last few months some happy times. God bless them.

I'm sorry about your grandmother. She sounded like a fun person. I and my youngest son and his cousin, when they were in their early teens, would settle down every weeked and watch SCTV, Friday, SNL, Mad TV, Living Color, etc. My husband turned earlier and we'd make some popcorn and we'd be rolling in the floor, having a blast. Great memories!

Well, while the REAL Captain may NOT have condoned violence and teaching it so obviously don't you think videogames and other forms of entertainment (mainly movies) are pretty much doing it insidiously now? (BTW, best Captain Kangaroo spoof I ever saw was a gameshow spoof with JIM Belushi playing the Captain. He got so upset with the nitwit contestant he was paired up that he cursed her practically strangled her when she didn't get any answers right! Hahahahaha.) Nobody honestly thinks FPS games like "Call of Duty" and "Gears of War" don't affect young kids, not to mention all the online cussing and just generally coarse behavior? Online, and especially on KZitem, I find more often than not that the most thoughtless, ignorant, and JUST PLAIN RUDE people are hardcore gamers (in addition to the conspiracy theory crowd and people who just can't retire their politics and just try and enjoy life for a few hours.). It's like they do nothing but play games! They don't read or seem to interact with anyone that has a smidgeon of intelligence! They don't seem to have much contact with reality and realize how awful they come off to other people. THE worst of the worst, the truly mentally ill kids are being fed crap that's not going to lead to good things for them later in life. Now, let me be clear here -- what I said IS a stereotype but if FITS for a lot of that crowd -- not all of them, of course, but it's MORE KIDS who are obviously troubled than open-minded adults would admit! Of course, people working in the game industry won't admit these things because the game industry is still marketed at teens and preteens mainly even if the hardcore collectors are 20s and older. Yeah, it's mainly a parenting thing and every video game store employee I bet has a horror story of an irresponsible parent buying a videogame that is OBVIOUSLY inappropriate for their early teen/preteen kid. I must reveal now that I had a former co-worker who was a vet that participated in Gulf War 1 back in 1991 and he had kids, too. He was NOT happy with "Call of Duty" and felt the games trivialized real life combat and glamourized it. I have to be honest, here -- I've never cared for the "GI Joe" kind of film and TV series that showcase "bloodless combat" when it's not that at all. My co-worker WAS responsible and very careful about the games his kids played. His was NOT a "Call of Duty" household -- at least not without him being frank about how war really is. I actually do appreciate comedy like this that is pointing out something a lot of us dismiss lightly without considering it.
