As a beginner i realize this series isn't aimed at me but a tiny bit more explanation would be nice in a few areas, for example you skipped over the multi res modifier quite quickly, so after the one minute mark I have absolutely no idea what you're doing. Again I'm very new to Blender and especially to sculpting so i expected to get left behind but I think a little extra exposition for us beginners would be great.

He started scultping in dyna;ic topo mode ( previous video 0 Then he retopologized the face for better and simple edge flow This base mesh is then used + a multires modifier on which he sculpts , it's indeed a bit of a weird workflow , but the topoly of the mesh is evely spread ( becaue of the multires modifier ) Most people just sculpt in dyntopo and the retopologize . Seems that he wasn't happy with the original sculpt and did it this way

I like this workflow. However I need advice doing an entire character. I would like to have the head high detail, without the rest of the body being too high poly. Of course, in the end ill be baking out normal maps for the high detail. How would I modify this workflow in this case?
@grabbitt

Ruddy761 you can supersets the model into different pieces or you do it all in one but just give the face more detail. My spartan warrior series goes through the process

Hi Grant Abbitt i have a query regarding this work flow could you please tell me , at first you have sculpted the model then retoplogised it , then again, why you are using multi res modifier and adding details as you already have sculpted the details right? then what is the need of adding details again with multires modifier. cant we just apply the modifiers [shrink wrap and subsurf which we already have in setup] and go to uv unwrapping then baking normals.

So if I want to rig detailed model I should make a simple retopology of it and then sculpt on it and animate?
@grabbitt
6 жыл бұрын
yes how detailed your low poly depends on what you are using it for. Game or film
@hubiguschti5867
4 жыл бұрын
i think it's sculpting (only bigger details), then you retopo it and then u add multires and sculpt in the details. then you can bake all the maps from the high detailed one and apply them to the retopologized version... at least that makes sense to me^^
