I admire your curiosity and courage in touching every fish out there. Definitely interested in creating a freediving community in New Brunswick

Growing up. One of us that swam in a popular swimming place in the river got a lamprey eel attached to his cheek. He pulled it off immediately, but still bled. That was over 40 years ago. Plenty of people witnessed.

I've never been scared of lampreys, but always cautious of them because I was always told they were aggressive - and seeing the maw they have on them, figured people were right. I really appreciate you doing this video to show that it isn't always the case. Very interesting.

Thanks for watching! I was happy to see that it wasn't aggressive also. I am planning to continue finding them in the spring time and discovering if there is any truth to those rumours.

Thanks for the reassurance even though I will never test the waters oops I should not use the word never . It is highly unlikely that I willing would ever explore a river , lake , bay, cove, pond. Irrigation ditch, canal, Glacier runoff, ocean or sea. I like being a viewer tagging along with you! Thank you for picking up all that plastic 🌟❤️🌟👍👍👍👍🌟❤️🌟🖖🖖🖖🖖🌟💝🌟🙋🏼♀️

You are correct, the silver fish are Gaspereau, which run up stream to spawn in the spring.

They look a lot like shad? I’m not an expert by any means. Hard to tell the size.

Was that the dreaded blue/green algae you here the warnings about? Was a fair bit in the part of the vid you saw the first lamprey.

That’s where we differ…they are the one of the ugliest creatures I’ve seen in the River..LOL. I guess when you get to see their mouth it gives you a different perspective..
