Nice video. I am Inuit living in North Greenland and hunt seals like this method back in the day. Being out there waiting for the seal are hard but also very rewarding. 😊

these people take only what they need and the entire animal is put to use in one way or another. they do this to survive in one of the harshest places on the planet, and is their right as aborignal people.the native communities in the northern hemisphere have been hunting seal since the dawn of time, with minimal impact on the seal population. its global climate change and the seal fur industry that has had a major impact on seal numbers.

This is awesome.. I am Ute Indian.. and we still hunt deer. elk. buffalo. antelope.. like our ancestors did.. the Inuit that seal hunt are holding up their traditions.. they hunt the seal for clothing and foot. also they use the day for various things.. they also use the bones for tools.. awls.. weapons.. so to say it is bad for a human to provide good for their family is just stupid..

80% of those employed by the fur industry are Natives. Its a traditional way of life passed down generations the first Europeans that we lived in peace with traded with us for our furs. Attacking that way of life hurts Natives more then anyone. Targeting the Newfoundland seal hunt which is a species that has never been endangered when there are 20 species of seal in need of help else where is proof that it is cultural bias, racism that motivates your hate not a concern for seals.

So, prey tell, why should we be boycotting seafood from the pacific over acts in the gulf of St. Laurence ? Yes, boys and girls, look at your map. From the coast of Nova Scotia. Shall I go on ?

1. The seals don't need to be saved. There are far from endangered. They are prosperous. 2. Your preference of animal life over human life is apparent by your statement. 3. Your manic depressive, "ends justify the means" propaganda will not obtain political influence here in Canada. 4. If you truly wanted to "save seals" you would have gone after the buyers - Norway and Russia - And you would have stopped your own seal hunt in Alaska.

And why is it such a big hunt ? Greenland. Norway. Russia ; They all have their own hunts but import the majority of their seal pelts from Canada. Who is Alaska exporting to ? The same countries Canada is exporting to, including China/Hong Kong and over half a dozen of the major European nations. The demand will not be reduced by your badgering and propaganda against Canada - Especially when the major processor in Canada is a subsidiary of a Norwegian company.

Seals can smell them so they(The Hunters) hide above the ice. The hole was made by seals to breath in which they were Smelling and checking it to see how often do seals use it to breath. So he waits till one comes to breath and he stands still cuz sound travels faster in water hence why you don't tap fish tanks. From this the seal thinks it's safe to breath and rest then they stick it, cut the hole bigger then real it in. Like how Gators and Cranes hunt in reverse.
