Ive been pro-rebuild since KD & Kyrie were traded, probably could've gotten the most value for all the players involved in that trade. To me, this is not a Mikal vs Jalen Green, to start a rebuild you need a cornerstone and that's not Jalen Green OR the prospect from the '24 draft, its the potential to draft Cooper Flagg and The Rockets were never gonna let us get that chance.

@jonathanoscategui2678

Ultimately Sean Marks probably rejected this trade because the Rockets offered two later first round draft picks instead of the most important 2025 one which would be paramount for Brooklyn if they considered a longer rebuild. If the Rockets didn't offer that pick it wouldn't have made sense to trade Bridges. The second reason is Jalen Green is not the player Brooklyn wanted in return for Bridges. They most likely had Cam Whitmore and Alperen Sengun on their list of options over Green. Also Green has largely been an inconsistent mixed bag. He's playing great right now but if he gets the extension, will he continue this scorching run or will it turn out to be a fluke and he regresses back to playing unbalanced basketball? The only problem though is Sean Marks should have negotiated better to get the picks and the player he wanted back and instead shut the door....

@@taboo686 I think Marks could potentially be waiting to see what happens with Houston this summer because both Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun are due for contract extensions and only ONE of them could be offered the max which could create a big pressure situation. Now if they clearly still want Sengun to be part of their main core Brooklyn could revisit talks with them and offer to take Jalen Green for Bridges only if they guarantee that 2025 first round draft pick is coming alongside Green... If Sean Marks could actually negotiate and pull that off, Brooklyn could continue their rebuild and be set for a great 2025 draft... But ultimately my gut feels that the organization is looking to make a big move so we'll see what happens....
@bigradwolf5001

@@jonathanoscategui2678 I don't think Jalen is in a position for max. His FG% is bad this season. Even a torrid March and April is not enough, and add to that the past 2 season and his career averages looks bad.
@jonathanoscategui2678
5 ай бұрын
@@bigradwolf5001 I agree. I think the Rockets will give Alperen Sengun the max extension over Green. But doing that would put the Rockets in a bind because they would have to trade Green at that point. Maybe Marks is waiting until the Rockets are in that pressure position where they have to move off of Green if he doesn't get the extension. Marks could try to enter back into trade conversations with the Rockets saying Brooklyn could be willing to take on Green as long as they guarantee that 2025 first round draft pick coming back alongside Green.... We'll see if that possibly happens but Marks would probably have more power in that situation to negotiate the picks he wants as opposed to the picks the Rockets wanted to give us earlier in the season....

First off, I agree that Sean Marks needs to go, and as quickly as possible. If the vision is to get a top 10 player in 2025, that’s a pipe dream. We will have more or less the same crap next year and what superstar is going to want to go into that situation. Am I wrong to think that the only feasible option if you want to compete, is to tear it all down, get draft picks and draft well, develop the youth that we have, and somewhere along the way we will look attractive to a youngish big name?

Hello Michael. I agree that the 1st priority should be to remove Marks as GM. I also agree that a feasible option, in the future, should be to "tear it all down", make "wise" draft picks, and develop the youth we have now and will acquire later. He is self motivated and will not let bad attitudes affect his play. Houston's defense is designed to hide his defensive liabilities. I believe the Rockets want a more traditional center that protects the rim so they can focus on perimeter defense. But Sengun is the Rocket's only good inside scorer so I'm not sure if you can trade Claxton for him.
