This was beautifully done.I am sure it was an honor for your son to go with you. These caves are sacred and should be treated as such.Thank you so much for this video. It was the gold in georgia that led to my people's removal from their home and made to walk the "Trail Of Tears".My 3rd great grandpa and grandma died on this walk.My 2nd great grandpa hid in a cave in McMinnville,Tn and was found by the Nunley family at the age of 10 and was adopted by them.

Tommy Crowhawk Tsalagi is the cherokee word for cherokee. May have been originally derived from the Choctaw word Cha-la-Lee which means people who live in the mountains...or the Choctaw word Chi-lui-ok-bi...meaning people who live in the cave country.

That third cave was a mine . It reminded me of the mines we used to explore in Nevada years ago before the state covered them up for .Safety reasons.Caves don't generally arch in that way and hardly ever give you room enough to stand, the quartz was the giveaway you were correct gold miners love quartz. Nice job on video stay alert in there and stay safe . Ps you might want to carry a small air horn . Its good for discouraging animals(bears)and if you get trapped the sound will carry.HBY

This is fantastic! You did an awesome job with the narration and pics. It's so educational and has given me renewed interest in exploring the area. My uncle is a retired Chattahoochee Forest Ranger. When I was a kid, he used to take us to Indian caves. I recall this one cave that had this long tunnel in a rock that hung out over the mountain. The Cherokee would crawl up through the tunnel to look out for enemies. It was created by both an underwater river and partly carved in the rock.

It's still shown that this could very well be a Mayan city since most of the other tribes were nomadic. Also, the way the stones are set seem to be for terracing and could have come from the mines you found. The indigo used in the Mayan paintings and clothing dye are a match for indigo found in Georgia. I hope y'all can still go back to the site with better lighting and camera!

Did you see any signs that these were man made mines versus naturally occurring caverns? If they were mines then where is all the rock and dirt they removed from the mines. I didn't see any signs of that outside the mine/cave? Then there is the entrances to these mine/caves: if they were going in there to mine on a regular basis I think the portals would have been larger.

You could tell 50 people where you were going, have on a helmet, and 37 lights, and 4 parachutes,... and you could still die easily in a plane. Agree? Those caves have been there probably 160 years,... 58,400 days or more,... now what are the chances they would cave in on the day we were there,... versus the incredible time we had??? Brady

Great Video upload! After watching a second time I think the first two were exploratory digs and the third was what the digger though was the real deal. If they were Native American You would have found a dead fall well before you found anything of real value. When the Native Americans in the southeast found out they would be leaving a couple years later regardless to their approval, they would go out and dig up their ancestors, their valuables and bury them is the floor of their cabins and long houses.

Depends on what part of the North Georgia mountains You were in. In some parts men were looking for Talc, some parts Mica or Pyrite, some gold and some for the so called great Chattahoochee River Iron/Copper Vein which was really on the north side of the Etowah River. Some were dug out for moonshine stills. My Great Grandfather and His sons dug several caves for their stills. He was also a Deacon at his local church. Corn was cheap and plentiful. A quart of Corn mash/whiskey was worth ten time as much a bushel of corn. Our county sheriff at the time was the biggest maker, buyer and seller of moonshine. The Muscogee Creek were here first, They would have known more than anyone.
