Hi Shawn. I have the sig kilo8K and it works with base map exactly as you want it to. I have used it and it works great, range an area and it puts a pin on that point on base map. I have never seen that screen with the cross hairs come up on my phone before. Hopefully it’s just an update that the binos need. Great review, thanks. Great channel by the way.

Great review just received my 10k today. After playing around with it and base maps I found that you need to upgrade to the pro package in order to send a marker remotely from the kilo to base maps. They way they of making money. I don’t know that I’ll ever use the app seeing I live on east coast but like playing with this technology.

Everyone complains about the blue tint but that is because they employ a notch filter. It is impossible to get these ranges without one. Vectronix uses notch filters too and they also have a slight blue tint.

You mentioned your gear getting wind chill so I thought I’d tell you a little about wind chill. It’s only experienced by warm blooded animals. We have a layer of warm air around us and the wind strips that layer exposing us to actual temp. If you touch the side of your pickup that’s a true representation of actual temp.

Shawn, you may want to revisit the part on how to range and mark a point on Basemap. It definitely does work exactly how you said you'd like it to work. Just make sure to pair the device before using the remote marker option.
@ShawnC338

The device is paired, all permissions are available, fought it for 2 hours last night got it to work twice and the pin it dropped is way off of what i had shot at. I recalibrated compasses on both units, started restared both units, unpaird and repaird the devices. Last I used the base maps remote marker with just the base maps version and not paired to the 10K this also produced pins not in the right location. Not sure where to go from here. I had done all of this prior to making the video but did it all again to confirm. Seems to me there is a comunication issue and a pin location issue.

@@ShawnC338 Man that is such a bummer! Maybe reach out to SIG and see if they could offer you any help or maybe replace it for you. Could just be a bad unit? When I fired up my 8k for the first time everything just worked. I didn't really have to mess with it much at all and the Basemap function worked flawlessly. Best of Luck.

Have you guys ever check the compass on the SIG 10 K? Mine is about 40° off. I’m certain it’s a problem with the rangefinder. When I use BaseMap Alone the compass is spot on.

Thanks for a thorough review. Currently I'm using a Bushnell 1 Mile ARC rangefinder, sorta the first really good mid-priced LRF binocular. I WOULD like the SIG Kilo 10K if it had at least "HD" glass but preferably ED glass. And I'd pay another $400. for that ED glass.

I sent an email to BaseMap‘s customer service after looking closer at my Sig 10k I noticed that the compass is way off. I’ve done everything trying to calibrate it right but the compasses 30 to 40° off. Very disappointing.

Do the ocular adjustments lock? Also, how did you get the wind call, estimation or a Kestrel or some other meter?
@ShawnC338
2 жыл бұрын
The occular adjustments are pretty stiff and take effort to move in the first place, didn't have any trouble with them moving once I had them adjusted. Also on the wind call I simply estimated the wind speed at the shooter and almost doubled it. This has worked well for me in terrain like we were shooting across.

@@ShawnC338 I have the 3k which seems to be similar mechanically and it's kind of a process to focus one ocular to get the reticle in focus, then use the main focus at distance and adjust the other ocular for the diopter adjustment. I'm really worried about handing them to someone and getting them back adjusted by a person that doesn't understand the interplay of the three focusers...

The kilo10k gave you your windage? and how did it do that? You said it, does temp, humidity, and pressure? I havent seen a listed stat for "enviromentals" other than "onboard enviromentals" Great review, Ive been thinking of doing the same thing, eliminating a few pieces of gear into one unit, but I probably still keep the kestrel in my pocket haha.
@ShawnC338

You can access the enviro on the menu to see what the on board sensors are reading. The wind youhave to enter your estimated mph and direction, the ballistic app with generate a windage correction to include spin and cor.

I am comparing the optics to a Vortex Viper SxS and the image quality from the Sig is a little disappointing. The ballistic software and range finder are great. Unfortunately I think this is a deal killer for me since glassing is such an important part of a successful hunt. FWIW

@@ShawnC338 I saw the vectronix can range a lone coyote on snow at 1700 yards. Can this unit do that? That's pretty damn far. I'll never shoot farther than that even at a target most likely. Second, for inside 1500m would something like a leica geovid be better just because of the better optics? Again I doubt I'd ever get past 1500 so likely within that range a more hunting oriented unit might suite me better. Thanks
