I was actually in Adelaide this weekend and walked around the track. A magnificent street circuit. I was amazed by how narrow it was running through the 90-degree corners early on in the lap. At one point it is only a normal 2 lane street running past people's front doors! Having been to Melbourne in 2009, although it is a good circuit I wish we were still at Adelaide.

i know that there was a condiderable power gap and for sure that pole in 93 was good, only possible by taking the corners a lot quicker than Prost and Hill and also quicker than Schumacher with the same HB7. however, in 91 he had no traction control, no active suspension, correcting oversteear in nearly every corner. that was pure dominance of a beast. and finally the scream of that V12 was awesome.
@projectjt3149

yeah this lap looked tame for a Senna lap. Hate to say this, but by the time he got to Imola in 1994, F1 just didn't suit Senna's oversteer style of driving. Thank God he can still prove himself in Quali AND in the rain!

This is the reason why overtaking was much easier in th 90ies. You could still be 2nd by being 1.2 seconds down. Today, being a second down usually means that you are not among the top 10. Everybody is moving at almost the same speed now. BTW, this race was Ayrton's last victory.

@qinq2020

@pauloacedo7461

Cem R thats bs, the ford engine was a very good engine actually. It was very easy on the tires and had great togue in the lower rpm. The only difference to the mighty renault v 10 was the top end. Renault had a big advantage there, only ferrari could compete but their v12 was hard to drive and thirsty as hell. Also the mclaren chassis was still the best one with the williams ( obviously) so the car wasnt that bad.

Senna didn't "overshadow" Prost, Prost won the championship, it's like saying Hill overshadowed Prost despite the frenchman winning the championship. This romanticising of Senna has in turn demonised Prost and it's unfair, both were world class divers, both said the very same things.
