Found an old Newcomb school record player at a flea market years ago, got it for $15 and it still works great. Nice video.👍🇺🇸

That Ebay price trick with the jacked up shipping used to be a method to avoid fees. But Ebay has since figured it out and started charging fees for shipping as well.

Its so nice to see you working on one of these again. it looks so close to the one i bought from you last year....very awesome....great videos as always.....your prices are more that fare...its so annoying everyone wants everything for either free or little to nothing....you put so much time and effort in to your repair work!!!! thanks for making videos on these!

I just snagged a Califone 1030av for $32 + 13 shipping, great condition. I heard these old classroom record players wear out your records, so I attached a crude counter-weight to the butt end of the tone arm with velcro and the stylus tracks much lighter now.

Nice player! I'd like to have one of those gray colored school players, don't recall the brand name. I never thought I'd want one, especially when I was in school and later. But there is something nostalgic about them. The music teacher would use it to play fun songs and some made us laugh. I don't know if I'd ever be able to acquire one. And I am not rich.

I can relate to your rant about buying and selling on the public forums. I had to downsize my electronics collection years ago and WOW! People wanted my stuff for free with lifetime warranty! Never again! I’d EOL my stuff just for the stress relief rather than deal with greedy uneducated morons!

I feel like eBay has ruined the market for hobbyists like us. Like you said, everything is over priced and / or the shipping is outrageous. It also irritates me how the common person seems to want to buy something new and disposable rather than pay extra for something that will last several decades and perform better. I know if I am in the market for a classroom record player, I will be hitting you up 1st as I don't mind paying extra for a better made unit that has been properly serviced and I know your time is also worth the extra money too.

I love these old califone record players it reminds me of my younger years before i became a repairer which is now 30 years ago itself! I really want to get my hands on one but getting it shipped to the uk is costly and i don't know if there was a different idler size or spindle that could be used for the 50hz supply we have here?

hello, I'm a big French fan of your videos I've been watching them for quite a long time and I love them, they're very interesting :), but for a while now there are no more subtitles in your videos (which prevents me to watch them because I'm very bad at English) could you put the French subtitles back please? hoping that my automatic translator has translated what I said, best regards.

If you still buy on eBait, stay AWAY from the British sales! Outrageous pricing and then the shipping is off the charts. Plus it takes seemingly forever to get anything from there to the States. Japan is just as bad if not worse on their prices but the quality such as JICO parts may make it worth it. As Bryan has expressed many times before far too many people seem to think that just because something is old it's worth a million bucks! Nowhere near right. Thrift stores used to be a good source of hobby things but like Goodwill, they've decided everything is gold plated and they price accordingly. If, like me, you're retired and things like this are just a hobby, you really have to be diligent and pick and choose what is worth anything to mess with.

@@richardcline1337 Canadian eBay sellers are the worst I've found. A majority of them will NOT ship to Australia at all (which is where I am) but they are happy to send items everywhere else. They tend to over-value their items and charge like wounded bulls for postage, almost as bad as UK. I fear soon eBay will be too expensive for anyone to bid on, or buy items for a fair price.
