I am so happy to have the polytunnel finally here at Ael Y Bryn, and have started mulching the beds with cardboard and compost. There's also an area with card and wood chip. Here I am showing how I am preparing the ground for planting, explaining what else needs to be done and what you can do if you are setting up a polytunnel with less to no compost.
The polytunnel is 14 x 45 ft (approx 4.3 x 13.7m) & is in the orchard here, which is sloped and bumpy because it is on a hill in Ceredigion, West Wales.
I have lots of plants in the greenhouse waiting to go in!
The polytunnel was kindly #gifted by First Tunnels, who have been great supporters of my work and helped at the Hampton Court show garden with the polytunnel there, which went to a gardening charity afterwards. My previous tunnel 10 years ago was also from them, but I bought that one.
The compost was bought from Dalefoot and is their green bag veg compost, certified organic and peat free. They also helped with the Hampton Court garden and some of the compost from that went to local community growing projects
