Love 'em, hate 'em, or pretty much indifferent, Sha Na Na at least deserves credit for keeping the sounds going through a relatively busy musical time...and I'm sure quite a few people heard the classics the first time thanks to them (and hopefully checked out the originals)...thanks guys, and RIP Lennie (always one of my favorite members of the group)

They were donated the gold costumes from a fancy musical that had ceased its production. So they thought the costumes were great since they were from a ritzy show. But I agree that they were awful outfits.
@BrutishYetDelightful

@@True_Christian There's a fantasy element to Sha Na Na that a lot of modern viewers don't get. There's the gang of mooks singing on a streetcorner, and there's the numbers they did on stage with the gold suits and everything. Notice when they're on stage there's a silhouette of a lamppost or a basketball goal in the background, showing that it's still the gang of mooks on the corner, but in their heads they're in front of a cheering crowd in fancy costumes. Any minute now Jane Dulo is gonna stick her head out the window and tell them to shaddup, but until she does that, the fantasy rolls on.
