PPQ clearly has a faster slide cycle, however appears to bobble around a bit once in battery. CZ takes a bit longer to cycle but seems to do so much smoother and flat. Both are amazing shooters but based on the video, I imagine the CZ would ultimately be faster back on target.

Both are great guns for match but I would prefer the Q5 SF because there is no DA/SA transition. The trigger on the CZ is a big far reaching for the DA for medium size hands. Q5 does not require manually lowering the hammer when make ready. Checkering on the CZ is too aggressive and they are as sharp as cheese grater. A lot of people owning CZ would modify it with lighter hammer spring, firing pin spring and longer firing pin, the list goes on but I do not think you need to modify anything on the Q5 SF. Q5 SF has a smooth trigger even with a firing pin block safety and CZ does not have that. Summing up everything I listed, I would take the Q5 SF to match without doubt but I cannot deny the fact that CZ is a fine pistol. All I have written is my personal opinion and my personal preference.

The Walther looked like it came back to point of aim a little smoother .It did look like it had a little less dwell time in full stroke . The shadow appeared to dwell a little longer but looked like it nose dived a little upon returning to battery. Nothing a recoil spring can't fix up .Both looked really easy shooting .I shoot a shadow occasionally in production but I'm really digging the walther now that I've seen someone shoot it . Good video guys .

İf Walther put this SF frame on PPQ navy or PPQ 45 acp this brand becames first choise of striker fire platform for me but still Shadow 2 is the best for home defence And competition if l want to use it for combat l would change Hammer spring to 20 lbs And recoil springs to 17-18 lbs And fixed front sights And buy threaded bar-sto barrel than Shadow 2 tactical

I’d like to know Aaron’s thoughts and Brian’s since you guys compete and had them in hand. The q5 looked like it shot really flat as did the s2 I own the s2 and I haven’t shot any other handgun (of 20 or so) as good as I do my shadow 2.

Jon B - both are great guns. For my hands, the Shadow 2 felt better in recoil. I shoot a CZ P-09 in Carry Optics and the grip / trigger of the S2 felt more familiar to me. That may have led to a more positive connection with the S2 over the Q5 SF. I was surprised that the video didn’t show a more pronounced muzzle flip with the Q5 SF, because it felt less flat than the S2. Both returned on target quickly. It would be interesting to run some timed drills with both for a deeper comparison. That said, I’m happy I have an S2! I just wish it was optics ready. For those that prefer Walther ergos and a striker trigger, the Q5 SF is sure to please.

Aaron in Texas watching a few times it does look to be less flat than the s2. I too had a p09 that I loved so I had no hesitation getting into a s2 and was glad I did. I’m with you I do wish it was optics compatible and the dovetail plate is always sold out on czusa website. Oh well. try a red dot out someday.

I preferred the Shadow 2. The ergos are more on point with me and my mutant hands. The Shadow 2 is oversprung for the 150gr Syntech loads we were shooting. If the plan is to shoot puffball loads definitely tune the recoil spring to the load. That is a given and a cheap ($3-7 kinda cheap) fix. That being said, I really like the Q5. If I got along with the Walther ergos better then I would be on this pistol in a heartbeat. I just always feel like I am moments away from losing control of the gun. Clearly I'm not but my brain is screaming at me while I shoot it. Talk to somebody that likes the Walther PPQ ergos though. I bet it feels like heaven in their hands.

Aaron in Texas I have the optics ready Shadow 2, running a Vortex Venom on it. Have posted some videos, but hasn’t been shot yet because I’m waiting for registration certificate but as soon as I have that..... I’ve been shooting my X5 for Carry Optics and my non-optic Deuce for IPSC, but I’m really liking shooting optics that I’m pretty sure the OR Deuce is going to blow the X5 out of the park. The Walther looks intriguing as a replacement for the X5. I prefer a steel gun over poly guns and DA/SA’s over striker fired. Full-size pistols over compact pistols. My preferred replacement for the X5 is the optic ready P10 F (not yet available in Canada), but if the steel frame Walther with an optic makes weight, I might be persuaded to give the SF Q5 Match a go for Carry Optics, but for IPSC nothing replaces the Deuce. I’ve shot the poly Q5 Match and I’m one of those people that doesn’t bond with the grip angles on certain guns, like Glocks, 1911s and the Q5. If the ergos can be changed with different grips, maybe? Thanks for posting, good video.

CZ Fan Grrl - just watched your slide swap video. Glad to hear they fit! If CZ starts selling optics ready slides soon, I’d be keen to buy one. If my patience can’t hold out, I’ll just send the slide off to CZ Customs for some milling. My focus for the next six months will be PCC, but I still want to see a dot riding my S2!

Federal Syntech 150gr. I saw that too. I suspect it has more to do with burning factory oil off of the chambers and rails. Both guns were basically brand new and from-the-factory oily.

Because this wasn't a gun review. It was a recoil comparison. Two different experienced competitive shooters with no previous experience with these particular platforms. That's it. You get to observe and make your own conclusions.

What sort of info would you like? I can get my hands on the Q5 SF again tomorrow at a match with it's owner. I have the Shadow 2 now so that I can go over. Though, I feel like it's been done to death unless you want a USPSA / practical shooting sports perspective.

Accuracy, smoothness of slide and trigger, recoil/muzzle rise? I’m thinking Shadow has it beat on all but want confirmation guess lol THANKS
@redsdot
5 жыл бұрын
@@craighunter6456 Both slides are relatively smooth. They cycle very cleanly out of the box. Accuracy is more accurate that either guy shooting them in the video. I don't have a proper ransom rest to test accuracy but being that these are meant for practical pistol sports and not bullseye it's somewhat irrelavant if they group 1 or 2 inches at 25 yards. I will say that both guns have ammo types they like and will group better with some over others. YMMV. The Q5 SF does have the same removable back plate for optics. The owner of the gun is a CO shooter so I assume he will drop a red dot on there. Triggers are subjective somewhat. I dislike the DA/SA on the CZ. I would rather have the same trigger pull every time like the Q5 SF. I don't mind pulling slack to a wall to shoot. Then again, I don't shoot "to the reset" either. Also, I am a Glock shooter, I am left handed, and I prefer Gen4 Glocks. So take that as you will. :)

The only purpose of this was to look at how the different pistols reacted under recoil. Hence it being a recoil comparison. Accuracy testing would require a ransom rest and various rounds for each pistol. I'm sure there are quite a few reviews on how accurate the pistols are.
@jasonpercy184

It's obvious this test is comparing how each pistol acts in recoil ,I'd say both are accurate because I own a shadow 2 and have shot a Q5 and it was accurate . Let's not forget not to many uspsa shooters spend to much time shooting groups ,sight it in and then focus on shooting it fast and accurate .Not to many bullseye targets pop up in USPSA or IPSC .
