I felt very dissapointed with this "remake". The original anime, even with its flaws, I think it's far superior. At least, the soundtrack was amazing and this one feels as generic as could be. Shaman King deserved better.

For the last 12 years every couple of months I googled if Takei was going to aprove a remake. When they announced this and a reprint of the mangas I was through the roof... Shaman King is the biggest disapoinment since The Hobbit trilogy for me... Ps. And the mangas (which of course I'm buying) are made out of a cheap paper and flimsy cover :c

@@etheri0n959 but it's an "Anime" I mean there is next to no animation, it's pretty much a slideshow, just zoom in/out and after effects work :c Dont get me wrong the base material is soooo good, but the execution is lacking. In the most recent episodes the animation has improved. It's still not great, but it's something. Even if that wasn't the case, animation isn't the only thing that makes a good anime. The pacing was also a massive issue with the early portions of the anime, which is better in the most recent episodes. And as a person who hasn't read the manga all the way through, seeing some of the developments is pretty nice for me.

well i know that the first rule of the internet is to not share your opnion online unless you have a death wish but meh here is my opnion about the adaptation as someone who didnt watched the original(it's not because i dont want to, i just can't) and also sorry for bad grammar, English isn't my first language 1- The first episodes: they were ok to me, just enough of the experience for an introduction, one thing that I can say is just that i didn't liked Ryu's(i think that this is his name) personality, he just looks like a weirdo to me 2- That flashback arc or whatever: hated it, they didnt needed to admit that they cant make Yoh's and Anna's relationship good or explainable just with normal episode's, also what's with the cat repeating the name of the arc (or that phrase, whatever) in the end of every single episode? I watched the show 2 times and i can't remember anything from that arc, at the first time I was like *"mehh"* and at the second time i just skipped it 3- Hao: Hao is a good villain to me, i don't know his motivations (maybe cuz i skipped most of the flashbacks) but by now I cant really tell what could be his motivations, and if he becomes a likable charather without any big motivations, thats fine to me, the ideia of doing something bad without any reasons is special, and i really hope that the theory of Hao being possessed by a demon is a lie, the least that i expect from a villain is the fact that they do what they do because they want and because they weren't forced (the not forced and the because they wan't rule doesn't need to be followed, but what i mean is that I expect that they arent literally being controled by someone else) 4- Evolution of powers: It was way too fast, they could have show a little bit of training, not too much so we cant tell what's coming but just enough to show that they are working hard to get that power, and yes im talking about the book wich i dont know how to write but i think that it's called "The ryaketsu book", (pls correct me if im wrong, i dont want to mention something that has nothing to do with it) like, one second Anna is like "Yeah sure i'll deliver this to Yoh" and the other second, not only Yoh, but his whole team and (probaly) Hao's minion's know how to use it, but the thing about Hao's minion's is that they had time, and probaly a lot of time to train it, but we don't even know for how long Yoh's team had time to train to get it Conclusion: It was a fun experience, could have been worse, considering that it's a reboot, and yes i did watch it with the english dub, my eyes hurt just with thinking about loosing some cool scene because I was reading the sub, and no im not going to say how the original is far superior, y'know, cuz i didn't watched it

Yeah. I pretty much agree with everything you said here, except for the first part of the show. I thought it was pretty poorly paced, but I understand why people might like it. Also for Hao, he's a fun villain with an awesome personality, and I'm also hoping that some of the future episodes, I haven't caught up yet, will debunk his possession backstory.

The manga has 300 chapters witch the anime tryes to put in like 60 episodes, that would be like 5 manga chapters per episode, thats why it feels rushed and a lot of story is cut out

Okay so, a few things I'd like to clear. 1. Marco's backstory isn't just a car dealership being burnt, he has a way better of a backstory in a future event you'll get to or have already seen idk, in the new anime it was glossed over and wasn't as impactfull, while the manga had a way longer of a talk and made me feel way more for Marco. 2. The comedy is very emphasized because they've not decided to make it as mature as it can be sometimes. And I hate it too 3. Hao is not possessed by a fricking demon, stop that😂 I've went over a plethora of ideas and nope, he can't be possessed. In the early manga chapter and in the osorezan we saw the demon/s who possess people or endanger them, while it would've been weirs for it to never be mentioned for Hao. Then he died and went to hell... Where he earned a revival through killing demons(then the guy who killed him, Yohken died by the same demons.... Kinda a plothole? I think there's an explanation actually, I've got a great one) .... See where I'm getting xD, Hao is more powerful... And is a human. Also you didn't mention his deep messages when he talked about how existence is so meaningless in his eyes. 4. The manga was rushed by itself in some parts... That's why Munzer just gives up? Idk, it is possible. And the anime rushed it more, instead of expanding where it should. And yeah, the amount of resurrections should've been better planned out, but they fill a bit better in the manga due to having a little more space in between instead of being crammed together.
@etheri0n959

I'll definitely wait for more of Marco's story to be shown to us and about Hao's possession, there has never been a point in the anime where the show has disproven it. If it does get addressed in the anime, I will stop saying that he was possessed, which I can do since the anime literally said that's what happened as a placeholder until I get the full story.
@NorthernWind_Vlll

@@etheri0n959 the thing is, there are two parts where Hao's first life is shown and neither of them show any possessions, one is about how he lost his mother and a met a spirit that's important for understanding Hao a little better (of course this was skipped in the anime) and the second backstory is about a boy who gets possessed by demons because of stupid and greedy humans, that's what enrages Hao a lot, that backstory ended with showing Hao grown up, being the head of the Asakura family... And still there's nothing that point onto the demon thingy... Another thing is that such beings aren't let onto communes in the GS that they don't belong to. So when Hao steps onto the place where he should merge with the GS, the separate entities should disappear and let the normal Hao do his job... Which, looking forward, Hao is the same himself always in every situation. It's best to regard the demon thing as an early idea the author had and then maybe he himself forgot about it and never built on it because nothing of that sort is ever mentioned again... And again, the anime, instead of helping with mishaps of the author, they just covered everything in whatever way they felt.

But that's why I'm criticizing the anime, not the manga. I'm saying that as an anime, they've added on plot details that don't make the show a better experience. But who knows? Maybe they'll fix this later on.
