Sharon Paley of the Queensland Government's Centre of Excellence for Clinical Innovation and Positive Behaviour Support, talks about the need to go beyond a compliance model when asking organisations to reduce Restrictive Practices. The compliance model needs a process to support it, one that moves beyond organisations to focus on the needs of the people being supported, as well as increasing the skills of the workforce supporting them and creating an impetus for change.
Interviewed at BILD's PBS International Research and Practice Conference, Sharon emphasises that most of all, we need to understand what matters most to the person being supported.
