So she already spent a childhood in foster homes and then was r*ped, went to report it to the police but they were really insensitive and said she was making it up and bullied her until she said she made it up. As a result she lost her home because where she was staying had an honesty policy. Then the police charged her for wasting time and she had to pay a fine. Years later a serial r*pist be going around and when he is finally caught, in a seperate state, they find photos of this girl on his hard drive (including a name tag with her face and name on it) they contact the policeman who charged her and emailed him the graphic photos to which he found her and told her he was sorry and paid her back the fine she paid as she wasn’t making it up. She then sued the city for the emotional distress caused. Based on a true story and the actual victim watched this and commended the actress for capturing her so well as well as saying how it gave her some closure to see the actor playing the r*pist be arrested.

That happened to me when I was 19. I went to check in for my court date but the date was actually 10 days earlier. I was told I had a warrant and started bawling my eyes out because it was just a fix it ticket. They sent me to the courtroom and the judge asked why I was crying. I told him about the mix up and he rescinded the warrant and only made me pay $10 for the ticket. I was so thankful!

Be grateful. I never received the court notification and a couple years later when I got pulled over for a minor traffic violation I was arrested(late at night) and spent Friday night and most of Saturday in jail before my husband could get my bail paid. I went to court on Tuesday as told to and when the Judge(filling in) asked why I never showed up for my original court date I explained that I never received a notice. He looked at me and said that I was about the 7th person in the past two days to tell him that and that he had even more the week before. The Judge then proceeded to announce out loud to everyone in the courtroom that our court had a very bad habit of not sending out proper notice and that he was filing a report on it to the state court system to try and help the people of our community. Thankfully he did lower my fine too. Everything was paid and I got my bail money back in about two months. It was not a fun experience. Sad thing is the officer that pulled me over was going to let me go and tell me how to clear it up on my own but his supervisor showed up and made him arrest me. I was on my to pick up my 15 year old son, my husband was working our seasonal job and couldn’t leave, our young daughter thankfully was spending the night with my parents already. I had to call my oldest son to go pick up his brother for me. It was a mess.

In reality the clerks know more of what is going on than the bosses. Most of the time it is the clerks who talk to each other in order to make certain that nothing goes wrong where they work.
@antmess9789

That is the truth of every single company. The bosses and head managers don't know shit. They then make changes that destroy the entire company and piss off all the workers who actually make the company run. It's annoying as hell. Once in a while you get lucky with a company where the bosses do care and pay extra attention, even communicating with those low-end people to learn about the work and ensure any company changes won't negatively impact the business. But it's rare. When I was a boss, I made sure to always be the latter.

I had no idea about anything because I’d paid over the phone and was told o didn’t need to go to court if I paid it. But the woman who took the payment forgot to transmit the receipt to the DMV and they reported it as an unpaid ticket, and when I didn’t show to a court date I didn’t know existed there had apparently been a warrant out for me so I was arrested when I was hit by another vehicle.

He and his mom moved, let his PO know and even the local PD know, did a change of address with the post office. He was sent a notice of a court date he had in relation to his parole/probation, but it went to his moms old home. He missed the court date, and officers came to the new home and arrested him again. New York sent tax notices to a guy for over a decade to a state he never lived in. They put a lien on his business, preventing him getting a business loan to expand his business. He owed NO taxes. Then a year later they said he now owed over $120k for the next tax year. His accountant and the state met, reviewed his return and he only owed about $1,100 . He was fined for not having medical insurance for a contract employee that lives in another state, where he provides valid insurance for the employee. New York said he needs to buy New York medical insurance which is invalid in the state that the employee lives in and the valid insurance will not satisfy the New York requirement. He moved his business out of New York and nearly all of his employees chose to move with him. He paid for their relocation and a few months of rent. They all love living in their new state. Governments are incompetent at best, indifferent in reality and malicious on a whim.

@clarasands4012

That's exactly what happens and she would get her life jacked up because those government departments dont talk to each other just sent out paperwork willy nilly and get everyone lives jacked up. Yep fix the problem cause everyone becomes a criminal by any means necessary. Government get your sh*t together. Not all criminals are dictated equal. This scenario worked out for her the 1% with good luck but what about the 99% that get arrested jailed and branded a criminal. 😢

In my area (suburban area near Canada) they do this all the time. Had a friend keep getting the run around as his baby momma pulled a fast one to get custody of their son temporarily (money was involved) and the dad got arrested when he tried to get his kid back. The courts sent the court notice to his original home in AZ but sent the date notification to his sisters home. He was fortunate the clerk was a friendly sort who helped him out.

You really have a cynical view of people don't you? I bet you don't help other people out, because why would you, you don't expect others to help you so you won't help others. And that's why you're miserable.

I know This is a TV show and this is something that happens in real life where some people who are doing their job do not offer the right amount of help that makes it understandable. Where a lot of that comes in because people have used them and so they become stingy with their help. Not saying they won't help but being able to help enough where the person is getting the exact what they're supposed to get and not just throwing them away into the system. But yet, if someone walks in with authority like another figure inside of the system, they would go all out of their way because they think that that's going to help themselves so with that being a statement, I only say that is, I'm thankful that this person had grace to help even if it's.A t v show

I wish office/ government type workers were more like this, idk about Everyone else but as a disabled person who has been disabled since birth I feel like I’ve had so many more interactions where the officials in the situation expected me to know everything even though from birth to 18 all stuff related to disability is handled through legal guardians and unless they teach you anything about it growing up (which mine didn’t because they expected me to live with them forever) you have absolutely no clue what to do so you’re already stressed which is made worse by these people being rude and treating you like you’re irresponsible for circumstances outside your control

They do that on purpose. Have correct address on file here but old address somewhere else so you don’t get shit on time on purpose solely so they can issue arrest warrants. It’s lazy work. Even though they have a means of contact too probably such as a phone number yet never call to ensure correct anything.

I do basically the same job, but on the phone. It just about rips my heart out. Unlike that lady in video all we can do when other departments have a major f*ck up like this, all we can do is tell them to go to their local office. That is packed full of people just like her.

Yeah. Cops do not get your address correct. Believe me I know. I hate how they have IDs shown to them with the correct address on it but they still mess it up. They should not hold the girl responsible for them sending the stuff to the wrong address. It's so messed up. Also she did the right thing to come in and check but they'll just string her up for that too. It's evil and they wonder why many don't trust them.

For anyone who wants spoilers.. This is on netflix, 8 episodes, and it's a real story. It's called Unbelievable. It's really amazing, so if you would rather go watch it without spoilers, then stop reading now. For everyone else, I will give a really short description.. cause I am hungry and am making dinner, but I wanted to explain, lol. So this girl was r*ped, she went to the police but they didn't believe her. She was basically bullied by the police to say that she made up the whole story. Then, they sent her that citation that she would have to pay some money for lying about the r*pe. Because the people she lived with found out, she also lost her home. Then, the story shows you two police women who work on other cases of r*pe that ultimately brings everyone together at the end. Sorry if I am not explaining this very well, but the show is seriously well done and definitely worth a watch!!

I had this happen. I got a citation and told the officer the address on my license is not current because I had just moved to the area. He didn’t take down my current address. My court date got moved earlier and send a notice to my old address. So when I showed up for court they said I missed my court date and I had a warrant. Luckily when I explained to the lady about me telling the officer about the address change she rolled her eyes and said “yeah, they don’t ever listen. I’ll fix it for you and get you a new court date and fix your address”

This almost happened to me once. I got a minor traffic ticket (got into a very minor accident, vehicle damage but no injuries) and almost missed a court date for it when I said I wanted to contest. I never got mail for the court date, and when I called about it, they said that I was in luck because my court date had been moved. It had been scheduled for the day before I called, but had been moved to two days after I called because the judge had become involved in something else and didn’t have the time until then or something like that. I was lucky enough to have the ticket dismissed because the officer didn’t show up. (I was like 18 and had never gotten into an accident before, and it was very minor anyway so he probably saw no purpose in it because I was horribly shaken up by the experience)

That actually happened to me when I was 16. Got a speeding ticket. Was told the court date would come in the mail. It never came. Parents and friends said it was because the cop didn't file the ticket. Months later I get a notification about a warrant for my arrest for failure to appear. I call the local PD and they show the court date was returned because they wrote the number on the address wrong. The desk sergeant said to come in and show them the original citation so they could get me on the docket and clear it up. 15 minutes later I'm at the front desk giving them my name. The lady's eyes at the front desk went crazy wide. Thankfully the desk sergeant was listening in and came around to fix it. My heart sunk when her eyes went wide. Really thought my 16 year old ass was going to end up in jail. Desk sergeant was awesome. Got it cleared up and gave me the court date right there. Judge was hilarious about it too. Called me a menace for trying to avoid him the first time while laughing. Just gave me the standard penalty and let me go on my way.

I had something similar happen to me. when the cop gave me my speeding ticket he pointed to the box that had the court date in it. I showed up for court on that day. I waited 6+ hours, until they had moved on from traffic violations I asked a bailiff what I'm supposed to do? He sent me to the clerk of court. She told me I had a FTA warrant against me, she looked at my ticket and found 3 other different court dates on it from the one I attended. She took me to the DA explained to him the situation and it was dropped completely . I didn't even have to pay court costs.
