My great, great grandfather ran the Radcliffe Brother’s Hosiery and Underwear factory on So. Canal Street in the 1880’s. He lived at Coram Ave and Elm. He owned a woolen mill in Huntington, a grocery store on Elm and a farm at Wells Hollow. His name was Benjamin Bentley Jr who was married to Betsey Radcliffe. They were both from Yorkshire West Riding in the U.K. Benjamin died in 1903, Betsey died in 1908. They are interred at Riverside Cemetery in Waterbury.

Knew a family called Blatchley. They're back in the 60s-early 70s and were good family friends. Shelton was a lovely place to visit.

My family and ancestors (the Hubbles) are the oldest family to date in Shelton. Though the town was not named after us.

Amazing to find you here, quite by accident. My direct family does carry the Shelton name, My mother is Elizabeth Shelton Lodge, Her Mother was Daniel Shelton's daughter, I spent many a summer at the family dairy, before my great aunt Elizabeth past in 1974. Not sure of our relation (if any) but there must be something we share. My mother is 91 as of two weeks ago

I'm related to the Hubbell's as well. My dad is Christopher Hubbell Tucker, grandmother Virginia Hubbell. She was born on Wigwam farm. Elizabeth Shelton is a distant Aunt if I'm not mistaken..
