I was at this show. It was Aerosmith was headlining and kid rock was supposed to open. He never showed and the MC said that STP was in town for something so they brought them in with like 2 hours notice to play to like 12,000 people. They opened with this then played every hit they had and left. It was totally amazing.

Was that in Nashville, TN? I saw STP open for Aerosmith in Nashville in 2002. I don’t remember kid rock being set to be the opener, but I also remember not expecting STP as the opener either. STP was great that night.

Yeah, that would have been me too. I’d have no interest whatsoever in seeing Kid Rock. Not then, not now, not ever. Haha. I guess I’d just forgotten 21 years later that he was supposed to have been the opener. Lucky us!!

Street Scene, San Diego, 1999. They were the headliner. This is the song they opened with. Also, the third and last time I saw STP, this being the best performance of them all. I practically lost my breath when I heard the guitar intro to this song. Pink Floyd has always been my favorite, so it was more than special. I feel very lucky to have been a part of some incredible Rock History.

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun. Shine on you crazy diamond. Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky. Shine on you crazy diamond. You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom, Blown on the steel breeze. Come on you target for faraway laughter, Come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine! You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon. Shine on you crazy diamond. Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light. Shine on you crazy diamond. Well you wore out your welcome with random precision, Rode on the steel breeze. Come on you raver, you seer of visions, Come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

If I'd had a computer, I'm sure I would've read about it on some website or something. So, I'm glad it was a surprise. And what a surprise it was!
