Thanks for the effort. Maybe you could take another one with good caps, good bullets, proper charge, good shells ... and maybe shooting rested? I‘m asking because you are the only one who shoots that thing and bothered making a video from a reasonable distance including a view of the bullet impacts.

Thanks for the feedback. I will definitely shoot a followup video after I get a proper load developed and the rifle sighted in. I’m still just figuring out how to film and edit videos so I appreciate the feedback! Thanks for watching.

A 40 grain load would be better. Ballistically comparable to a .45acp round from a pistol

Good Video. Always wanted a Smith. I assume you are aware of the Pietta Smith had a bunch of bad barrels that were made at first? Navy Arms reimbursed buyers at first. The barrels were choke bored the wrong direction.

I was not aware of that issue. I will check the make on mine and if necessary slug or cast the bore and breach and muzzle to verify. Thanks for watching!

@@timgreis4885 You can read about the bad batch of Smith barrels on the N.S.S.A bulletin board. Not sure which serial number it was fixed at. But if your's is shooting OK then it is probably a later one. The bad barrels were threaded on the wrong end before installation and the result was the bore diameter was larger at the muzzle than at the breech. Bobby Hoyt has been relining the bad barrels for people. Bottom line is that before you buy a Pietta Smith you make sure it doesn't have the bad barrel.

I have a Hoyt reline in a 2 band Enfield that won many medals, including a couple 1st places Nationals. His work is excellent!
