AN intro by Wink, special guest appearance by Pat Finn..AND a clip from the Joker's Wild '90 pilot...NOW THAT'S A NATURAL TRIPLE.

I can already tell you why this guy did not get the job and Pat Finn did. This guy did not look like he was into the show. Shop Til You Drop is a fast paced game show where have to have energy to really host this show and Pat Finn has a lot of energy. I did get a chance to see Pat Finn in person last year on the Price is Right live and I enjoyed watching him host it in person. I think Pat Finn is a very nice game show host, as well as Wink Martindale who has hosted I think 17 game shows if I am correct. I saw 14 of them. LOL. Thanks for this video Wink!

It's always interesting to see the pilots of long or short running shows and see how it evolved (or in some cases, devolved) into the show that we see on national TV. I'm more curious now to see some clips from The Joker's Wild pilot from 1990. The times on the third wheel have me intrigued. I can tell the show really evolved when Shop Til You Drop got on the air, especially with the look of the mall and the tighter production, along with the great hosting of Pat Finn.

I got the chance to talk to Pat once when he reviewed my concept for a TV show; I didn’t get the green light but he is a great guy!

Wink, it's amazing. You had Pat Finn who grew up watching/listening to you, over the years before you even knew him. In an 2012 interview with CRN Digital Talk Radio, I asked you a question all about him, where you said you were a good friend to him, who did fairly well in game shows, before he got to be a producer of infomercials and everything else. Anyways, he became the show's second host of "Shop 'Til You Drop!," just months, after coming out of "The Joker's Wild," that same year.

The format looks like a Nickelodeon Game Show, what a find! You should upload the full pilot Wink, after all you're one of my all time favorite game show hosts.

It's funny you should say that since Scott Stone and Dave Stanley, the EPs of Shop til You Drop, were the EPs of Legends of the Hidden Temple for Nickelodeon.

Miles Morris I think a lot of what Stone-Stanley did in the 1990s involved some physical elements. An equal blend of brains and brawn.

Miles Morris It did not dawn on me until now that this was the same producers as Legends. It also explains why Dee Bradley Baker was the announcer for both of these shows.

Notice: The stunts were only seen on our left side of the set in Round 1 and both stunts were played on our right side in Round 2. When the show went into production in June 1991, for both rounds, they put one stunt on the left(where the pass or play option is used as usual) and the other on the right(always played second in each round). Mark's last name is misspelled, it's Walberg, he was the sidekick for this show until he moved on to his own short-lived talk show and carried on to The Big Date for USA and USA Live afterwards(which led to his replacements for this show).

This was an interesting find, especially in a period now when I'm getting more interested in STYD again. I like the interesting store names, especially PIZZA PIZZAZZ, while being mixed in with stores we see on the actual show, like Top Chef and 24 Karats. Honestly, I like the name "The Locker Room" better than "Good Sports" or "J&B Sports of All Sorts".

MetalPikachu3500 Yeah, those were interesting store names from the pilot, LEANING TOWER OF PISA RECORDS & VIDEOS (Harry's House of Music & Videos), THE SHOE TREE (Harris' Bootery), PIZZA PIZZAZZ, CARD SHARKS, THE LOCKER ROOM, GOOD SCENTS (Lotions & Potions), and FASHION FAIR (Melanie's Fashion Fair) are mixed in with Baby Land, The Book Nook, Fun & Games?, Top Chef Kitchen Accessories, 24 Karats, Circuit Center, and Shutter Bug. They might show up in your DeviantART Page.

Fun fact, the pilot's theme is the theme for College Mad House
@cutemimi25
3 жыл бұрын
Actually it was also used for the 1991-1993 run of Shop Til You Drop with Pat Finn also, but yes College Mad House also used that theme song, and the bonus round for both shows used the same music however College Mad House had an extra 30 second soundtrack.

Those stores on the bottom floor have no doors or windows thus rendering them an open alcove. I have no idea what the stores in this pilot are.
