Although I'm not against them, I avoid fees, because people are dense and they always use that as a reason to leave bad reviews. I just charge accordingly for the work and time (I try to account for extra trips to store i.e., bc customer got wrong parts, poor timing, callbacks etc). If they give me a hard time I just tough it out, smile, get my payment and never pick up for them again. We have to be selective about who we work for

Hey Thomas, can you let me know if you had this problem... I'm getting customers contact me initially. I tell them I can do the job I get all the information and give customers a very fair quote since im just starting out... But I can't get customers to commit to the job. Idk what else I need to do 😅

I wouldn't have stayed there waiting, so not billable for that, but if you mean a late fee for non-payment at time of service, only if that is in writing and they signed the work order stating that. Otherwise I would just avoid doing work for them without an assurance of full cash up front and I literally mean, up front for labor diagnostic before you touch the vehicle, and up front for further work including partsbefore that is started. The tricky part is that it's not uncommon to need more parts once you dig into something, so unless you are hard up for work, may be better to just avoid such customers.

Sounds like those folks were scraping the dough together to get you paid. I would not have changed them time for waiting, but maybe would think twice before servicing their car again. Sounds like it must be a tough racket sometimes just getting paid! Continued success my friend.

None of my business, just friendly advice perhaps , all parts needed before starting should be paid in full by customer. Also all labor is due and payable upon completion of your obligation, effort. In the end all you really have isn’t your tools or your automotive skills. You must work in the same world as we all do 24 hrs in a day . The customer must appreciate your valued time . With quick payment or suffer extra cost . Like a lawyer the clock is ticking you ain’t off the clock until payed in full .
