I just found your channel and I’m currently building out my mics for my new drums. You have help a lot with that indie dry sound I want on my kit. Thank you Reed. I wish you all of the success in the world. -Golden Street Hippies.

Can you make a 80’s- almost Roland drum machine type pack? That would be amazing

@@JakeReedmusic Way back home. He plays it differently in most of the videos of it but there’s an example somewhere were he plays traditional grip on the hats with his left hand while moving his right around. There’s a KZitem video of Steve Gadd’ top 5 or 10 grooves explaining it. Learning that groove will enhance any drummers playing.

Nice! But, yeah, def did not get the idea for this groove from that song. It’s just a double stroke roll orchestrated around the drums.

Ha! I wanna say I learned and played this same beat in 1982...straight outta' "The Fusion Drummer: 52 Beats for the Jazz-Rock Player" lesson book by Murray Houllif (1980). Sample pack would be great with a clean kick drum.

Love this! May I ask why use Condensers on the toms? I’ve seen you do it before. I’ve a pair of c414’s but for some reason I’ve never entertained the idea of using them on toms. Interesting placement of the m160 - I fucking love mine!!

Recording Engineers have used Large Diaphragm Condensors on drums (incl Snare and Toms) for decades - the real question to ask yourself when recording is: Why Not? But LDC on toms (particularly C414s) is NOT unusual - try it!! Esp on Cardioid or Hypercardioid - and pay close attention to the sound quality of the spill/ bleed of other drums and cymbals in particular - vastly different than with Dynamic Mics 👍🏻👊🏼🤘🏻

I pretty much only use my LDC's as a stereo pair on guitars and piano's. Always used dynamics and ribbons for my kit and have to admit, my drums always knock. However, I will try the LDC's as I love trying new things out 😊
