You are right, FX4 is not necessary as there is already a 3:73 locking differential on the PoweBoost and you can add scuff plates for $120.

I think every F-150 I've driven from Ford Canada has had the FX4 package, it's been nice driving around without it for once. I'm sure plenty will option it on this truck though, but it's a great way to save $1,300 by skipping it.

Very cool in in depth video. Thank you. do you know if the stock F150 4 x 4 have any lift in suspension over non-4 x 4’s? Thank you.

As far as I know the drivetrain doesn't affect the ride hight, something like the FX4 package would, which is exclusive to the 4x4 models.

I had a 2021 F150 Limited Powerboost. Too many recalls. Ended up selling it for a $4200 profit. MSRP was $78,000 USD. Currently have a 2024 Silverado HD Duramax LTZ. MSRP was $86600. I got it for $81,000. Crazy how high prices are today.

I think that black Ford logo is answering Chevy’s black bow tie instead of the classic gold. Nowadays most people want black Chevy bow tie 🤣

Definitely is! Just feels weird to see it. As I've been driving this truck around I've been spotting other 2024s on the road, many with the black appearance package. Definitely a popular option.

Great looking truck. I wonder why Ford just doesn’t used F150’s face on Expedition.

It would probably help them sell more of them, at least if they offered a trim or two with the same front end.

I'm 100 % with you on that. If I would be in the market for a large SUV , I would go with a chevy, just for that reason. Don't care for the looks of the front, of the expedition.

How are the headlights at night on the xlt , is visibility down road good ? I Enjoy your Canadian content

Great question, thanks for asking! So I'm normally snuggled into bed before it gets dark outside, but I saw your comment and went out about 25 minutes ago to test this out. Low beams are adequate, definitely better than any halogen setup from F-150s prior. Paired with the fog lights I had a decent amount of visibility of the road in front of me along with the fields/greenspace next to the road. The auto high beams worked well, in the fact that they dipped when they should have, and will fade the lights on when activating. The output of the highbeams is poor though, not adding much distance to my visibility ahead, and very little on the sides of the road/shoulder. I'd have to test how the Lariat/Platinum performs to get a better idea of this system's limitations.

@@PRNTestDrive thanks so much for you’re feed back it’s certainly helping make my decision between the xlt 302a and the lariat but man are these trucks expensive hoping I can get a good discount with my employee discount.

I know, right! It's insane. Ford Canada is currently offering $7,000 in incentives on the F-150 as of writing this, so clearly there's room to negotiate, but even with a discount like that I feel this truck is too expensive.

I always wondered that as well. Then I read an article about why they stick with it. It all comes down to reception. If you are driving around suburbia, a shark fin or short antenna will be fine, but if you are out in the middle of nowhere, the extra length does a better job of bringing in the distant signals. It would be nice if they made it an option.

It was pretty consistent during the week I had this, I'm sure Ford planned on the engine stop/start system engaging every time the driver gets to a stop, but that clearly doesn't happen. I found it extremely annoying.

This one may have the 30.6 gal or 116L fuel tank, I drove approximately 320mi or 520kms this week and the fuel tank showed just under half when I filmed it up. It only took 14.5 gal or 55L to fill it back up. Either way you’re looking at about 650mi or 1,050km of range with a full tank, based on my driving.

I know, right! Like the XLT used to be the 'working man's truck', a good option for people who want to do truck stuff but had like a $50-60k CAD budget while still getting a well-equipped truck. A Lariat with the same sort of build, colour, options, comes out to $94,320 CAD with delivery, that's about $12k more than the one we drove in 2021, and the 502A package (not selected on this hypothetical build) says it has a 14 speaker B&O Unleashed audio system, but in my 2021 video I said that truck had 18 speakers. It appears to me that you're getting less equipment in 2024 for considerably more money.
