brutally honest revolutionaries are never taken to kindly or respected for what they do, that's how I view the Sex Pistols. A group of young guys shit on all their lives but they decided to stand up against it all and write some music, screaming the lyrics so they could be heard. Im not trying to glorify them, but this is one of the best bands ive ever seen; straight to the point, not scared of calling out the two faced authorities and relatively strong, catchy music. I couldn't and haven't done better with my youth. The drugs were the only downside as it got Sid murderous, literally, and killed him too. Rotten still shows his wits, thoughtfulness and kindness in the small things he does today. No one should be judged on what they look like or the opinions they express. Everyone deserves a chance, everyone deserves respect for trying.

Two of the greatest mates that ever rocked the world. Eternal spirit of rebellious youth, oozing raw talent and energy, with a clever, mocking sense of humor. Beautiful portrait at 3:19 - what utter beauty in those boys' faces. Read John Lydon's book - he reminisces poignantly on their friendship. This was a beautiful tribute, well done. Watching John and Sid with the Buckley song playing made me want to cry. You are greatly missed, Sid.

Great collection of pics! Hate to say it, but Sid HAD to die. What else could he have gone onto? A solo record beside Rod Stewart's Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? Sitting in a jail cell for 10 or more years? Cameo roles in goofball comedy's? Much like James Dean or Ian Curtis, there was a simple complexity about him. A candle that burns twice as bright only lasts half as long. And man, Sid knew how to BURN! And Johnny went on to be the James Mason... LOL(ita)

Fat You had to be alive in the UK at that time to see the change, I can't think of any other band that had that effect, it was a singular phenomenon. Though I agree they were musically never 'the greatest', just great. All 'punk' and new wave came from them and it was a domino effect that continues today. It was the social and cultural change that was extraordinary - out went much of the old establishment for good. (I was presuming you were not around in the London of 1976-sorry if I am wrong). ))

John confesses to bearing some part in Sid's demise. He brought Sid into the band to "balance" things out. Paul/Steve already had their alliance. Little did he know that his childhood mate would collapse under the chaos. Johnny could never make amends to Sid, but he did a fantastic job of taking care of Nora.
