The wide angle view of the GoPro made my shooting lane look way narrower than it really is! There is 90+ feet between the barn and any other object. It is my barn, and I am willing to take the astronomically tiny risk that this 100 year old building could be damaged (splash off of steel or otherwise). Thanks!

I own several of the P250 guns in all 4 calibers they made. I also own several gen 3 glocks and a sig P320 and P365. For some reason I'm more accurate with the P250 guns than any of the others I mentioned. My girlfriend has a problem with limp wristing pistols and that causes stove pipe malfunctions when she shoots glocks and several other guns, but that doesn't happen with the P250 guns so that's why she carries a subcompact P250. I also reload my own ammo and I've shot over 5000 rds in the P250 pistols and can say I've never had a single malfunction. For the money and because of the DAO trigger I think they are one of the best choices in the used market for a carry gun or bed side gun. Lots of holsters including the Safariland ALS holsters that are made for the P320 will fit the P250.

I'm obviously a big fan of the p250 as well! It's a shame Sig decided to discontinue the platform, but like you said, they are a steal on the used market for what they are. My non-lightbearing Safriland is mighty tight with the 250, but the TLR-1 Safariland fits great with either gun. I'm not surprised that your girlfriends 'limp wrist-ing' issue is not observable with the p250. With the deliberate and long trigger pull of a DAO, the shooter really has to engage the whole hand to pull the trigger. I think its important to note that something like 50% of our grip strength comes from the hypothenar (sp?) muscle that is engaged when we consciously squeeze with our pinkie finger. Using our whole hand to squeeze the gun (which comes naturally when working a double action trigger) makes sure you have an adequate hold on the gun. Might be something to keep in mind if you are trying to get her used to a striker fire gun in the future.

@@schramsgarage4331 She still limp wrists the sig p250, but it doesn't jam like many other guns do. Maybe that has something to do with the long DAO trigger like you said, but I've also tried to get the P250 to jam by very loosely holding the gun with only a couple fingers and it still didn't jam. Sig recently announced they are going to make a 380 acp version of the P365. I was thinking that might be a good choice for her because she loves her S&W EZ in 380 acp, but it's bigger than the P365 and has lower mag capacity. Eventually she might switch to a striker fired gun, but if not I think the P250 is something she will continue to carry. Even though she likes shooting the S&W EZ more than the Sig P250 I convinced her to stick with the P250 because she's more accurate with it during rapid fire. Plus the S&W EZ has jammed a couple times and the P250 never has.

I saw the press release for the p365 in .380. I'm sure it will sell very well. I would think that Sig will release a .380 'x-change' kit for the current p365 at some point. Sounds like the only difference is going to be the barrel, springs, and a spacer for the mag. Might be a good option for people that already have a p365. Good luck finding the 'perfect' gun for your girlfriend! It really makes going to the range more fun when both of you want to go.

Nicely done review of the SIG P250 and it's relevance as a self defense pistol in the current USA. It was also nice to learn that the recoil spring and guide rod from a SIG P229 wood work in the P250. Unfortunately, the P320 recoil spring and guide rod won't. I agree with your assessment that it is still a good (in my opinion great) handgun for self-defense. As you said it's not a great done for "gaming" as it will never be as fast as a striker-fired done. However, as you mentioned, there are some drawbacks to striker-fired guns as well as: sometimes a "mushy" feeling trigger pull, possible unintended discharge under stress or when reholstering. Some things that pushed me to purchase it years ago was its revolutionary-at-the-time modular FCU. If I'm not mistaken it is still the only SIG where you can use the same FCU with 6 calibers: .22LR, .380 ACP, 9 Luger, .40 S&W, .357 SIG and the .45ACP although it is very hard to find the X-Change kits nowadays. The P320 needs one FCU for 9mm/.40/.357 and a separate one for .45ACP. This might not mean much to most people but for those of us who live in restrictive states, like here in NY, where each handgun's serial number is registered with the state and has to appear on your pistol permit, it makes a big difference. It means that we don't have to have to pay to have shipped to an FFL, pay the transfer fee, nor do we have to go to our county licensing office, pay to have it added to the license. This is getting really long even after I deleted a big chunk out about why I think its a great SD gun so I will stop now. Subbed your channel BTW

Newrunner91, Thanks for subbing man! You brought up a ton of good points, so I'll try to reply to them roughly in the order you addressed them... Glad the recoil guide/spring tip helped you out. The p-320 recoil assembly is a weird issue...I think technically 'gen-1' compacts with the straight slide serrations will work in the p-250. Later compact assemblies are a different size/diameter, and x-carry recoil assemblies seem to be a world all to themselves and are not interchangeable with anything else. I avoided bringing it up in the review because I thought it was too darn confusing. It's confusing to me, and I had examples of each in front of me. The p250 trigger pull...it just needs a tweak/redesign to have a shorter reset. It's a great pull honestly, I just wish they could incorporate something more akin to the HK LEM reset. If Sig could re-engineer the FCU to do that, I'd run the p250 exclusively. The p320 would have literally no advantage in any situation over my imaginary p250. I'd even take a DA/SA FCU if it had a good trigger and a usable decocker. Regarding the x-change kits...yes they are stupid pricey as they came from Sig and the supply is starting to dry up. BUT...slides can be found all over the place. I've bought several p250 slides off of ebay, and two from the castboolits.gunloads.com forum. I regret selling my full size .45 slide and the .22 slide. I really wish I could find another .22 slide...that one seems the toughest to get right now. I've heard what a nightmare/hassle NY state is with handguns. I have friends that live in Rochester, and its beautiful up there. But the gun rules are so restrictive its painful for me to even imagine having to deal with that B.S. Thanks for stopping by, and I appreciate the sub/comment. Jon

Love this video. A GREAT review with stellar observations. I agree 100% about the lighter alternative to the Sig 229 that I love. For the AIWB CC crowd (who prefer a “thumb on hammer when re-holstering” option and who favor the grip angle and quality of the Sig and HK options,) I’d love to see you do a comparison between the P30SK LEM versus the Sig P250 DAO subcompact… Or the P30 LEM versus the P250 DAO compact. As you noted, the cost difference for an AIWB self-defense carry gun is significant between these subcompact options, and it seems like it’s a worthwhile consideration to look at both depending on one’s preferences. While you lose some things on the Sig (sculpted ergonomics, paddle release, shorter reset and lighter follow up shots) with the 250 you gain a MUCH more affordable gun, modularity options, 2 more rounds in the subcompact setup, and infinitely more accessories available in light of the P320 line. Thanks for considering.

Purvis, They really are good guns. I think they came along at just the wrong time...everything is striker fired anymore it seems. Honestly, I think if Sig relaunched this pistol with the only change being a shorter reset they would have a huge seller on their hands. So many people are carrying appendix right now, I think there is a market for a gun like the like the P250 with a shorter trigger pull/reset. It would nullify the biggest advantage of the striker fired guns (on the range anyway): speed. You will love the 320 when you get one! All the shoot-ability of the 250, with a pretty good/fast trigger. My split times are considerably quicker with the striker fired Sig. You may not be able to outrun your S&W with it (the M&P's are fast and flat shooting), but it is a heck of a good platform all the same. Thanks for stopping by, Jon

Myles, I definitely won't disagree with the excellence of the legacy Sig products. But, I think the p320 has come a long way since it first came out. It is a great platform, that runs the entire spectrum from CCW, duty weapon, to good entry level competition gun. The p228/p229/m11a1 is probably my favorite all-around platform. A p229 with SRT trigger and E2 grips was a great EDC for me...BUT that weighs in around 34oz unloaded. Even a West German 228 with the folded slide is going to come in around 30-31oz. An unloaded p250/p320 compact is going to come in 6-10oz less than that depending on how you have it set up. So I think it's really and apple-to-oranges comparison if you are planning on carrying the gun. If we compare race-gun to race-gun...X5 Legion to P226 X5 SAO...I'd say that they are equally fast (at least in my hands). Sure, the p226 build quality is better and I'm sure it would survive longer in IPSC competition, but it seems like the p320 X5-Legions are holding up just fine. Accuracy wise, the high end 226's are going to have the edge as well...but they cost 2-3 times what it would cost to get set up with the p320 platform. For a primary combat weapon, I don't see much difference. The aluminum frame guns win for durability and the polymer gun wins for weight and price. All said, I guess I 'prefer' the legacy models...but I'd be hard pressed to go back to carrying them. I teach CCW classes and it's just SO much easier to get a new shooter proficient with either a striker fired gun or even a DAO over a DA/SA handgun (plus they cost so darn much!). Thanks for stopping by!

Myles, I'm not surprised to be honest. 9mm chambers are usually on the large side. Between all of the foreign ammo manufacturers I think they err on the side of reliability vs accuracy. High pressure and the fact that 9x19 is technically a tapered case and you have a recipe for sub-par groups vs the same gun chambered in another cartridge. For a defensive gun, I don't think it makes that big of a difference though. I shot Bullseye on-and-off for a few years, and I don't remember ever seeing somebody running a 9mm for centerfire handgun. Most guys just run their .45 for both, unless they had a neat .32 or a S&W 52 to show off with. I've had mixed luck with .357 sig. I think the short neck just makes it tough to have consistent neck tension (factory ammo or the handloader). The high pressure, concussion, and recoil also make it tougher to shoot. Handloading for my 226 in .357 sig--it really loves 124 Hornady XTP's at 1,300fps....its a laser beam for shooting steel at distance

Just found your great video on the P250 so a little late to the comments but I wanted to thank you for reassuring me on the decision to make it my first gun back in 2017. I wanted a "safety" trigger and the price was great. I thought it would be fun to put the time in to master the trigger and it has been a great experience. I searched for P250 videos after coming home from a training class because my instructor commented that I was very accurate and fast with my P250 despite the trigger. We were timing drills and mine were decent among all the striker fired guns. I like the trigger so much that I carry a Kahr PM9. It has a similar trigger although its striker fired but is much lighter. When I train with the P250 it serves me well for the PM9 which only has an 8 round mag. Both guns are as fast and accurate as I need. I can see that at least some people agree with that. Thanks again.

Edgy, Yes, SOME (most) p320 barrels will drop into the 250. As with everything Sig, there are a few caveats. I'll try and give you a rundown below...but obviously check with your barrel maker of choice before ordering. I believe virtually all 4.7" barrels are interchangeable across both platforms. Obviously the X5 barrels will not fit in regular full size slides because of barrel diameter differences. I don't have a v-tac slide on hand...but I would be weary because the barrel hood cut looks suspicious. The compact is a little different. The standard compact barrel WILL fit the p250. The early x-carry barrels with the angled barrel hood (sometimes called 'pre-tensioned' setups) will NOT interchange in either the p250 or standard 320 compacts. The OEM threaded barrels found in the compact vtac/lite/TacOps(??) barrels will NOT interchange in the 250 as they are essentially early x-carry slides. I think all sub-compact barrels are the same. I've never messed with this too much, but at least my examples will switch back-and-forth. I had a Faxon barrel in my 250 that moved to the 320 when I switched platforms. Didn't shoot any better than stock (in my hands anyway), but it sure looked cool. Take a look on ebay before you drop the cash on a new one. I see them on there pretty regularly used. There are metric left hand threaded barrels and SAE right hand threaded barrels...so make sure you know which will fit your suppressor before you order. Thanks for stopping by, Jon

Myles, That hasn't been my experience. My p320 x-carry barrel will not fit my standard p320 compact nor either of my p250 compact slides. Maybe Sig has streamlined production to make them all the same currently, but I know the scalloped barrel hoods will not fit in stock p250's. Since I worked at a gun store at the time, I confirmed this with a pretty good sample size of guns. Pretty sure the M18, P320 VTAC, P320 TacLite (?), P320 X-carry, and the short lived threaded combat model with the lightened slide all have a different barrel than the standard p320. I ran into this when I was trying to get an x-carry (3.9") slide+compensator to end at the Legion dust cover and still fit a safirland holster. The nice guys at Killer Innovations were the ones who walked me through the process. They offered to sell me a threaded, narrow/scalloped barrel hood barrel for my x-carry...but I ended up just running a 4.7" slide and a single port comp that still met my requirements. It's Sig...they just had to make it hard for us. Probably for the same reason there are 2 recoil spring assembly diameters, 4 trigger profiles, and at least 2 striker assemblies...they found a way to shave a few pennies off of production throughout the manufacturing run of the 320.
