Great review. I would love an fp II that's a little bigger, with a flip screen and IBIS! But the best thing is that it's a flattop FF camera - too rare

I think part of the reason why 35mm film cameras/lenses are generally smaller than full frame digital cameras/lenses is because the light needs to hit the digital sensors head-on. Film was a bit more forgiving in that regard. Leica got around it in their M cameras by using micros lenses on the sensor, which is why their lenses and camera bodies can be so much smaller than most other full frame systems. Anyways, thank you for the review! Really interesting camera.

Thanks for your review. I have been considering this camera for a while to adapt Leica or old lenses. As you state earlier in the video, I dont understand why modern cameras are getting so stupidly huge compared to the 35mm film cameras which were small and stylish. If they wonder why the camera market sales are dropping so much, it's not only because of the quality of smartphone cameras but also the absurd size the full frame cameras are getting to. I just bought a Canon EOS R with a 50mm F1.2 lens. I love the photos it takes but I wouldnt possibly carry it daily. It's heavy and I dont want to look so conspicuous. My wife would not even be able to hold it comfortably for more than a few minutes. I like what Sigma is trying to do which is to make the camera small while still delivering image quality. I only wish it had a built in view finder or a tilt screen. I shoot daily with a Sony RX1RII because it is very compact and provides awesome images and I find that I use the view finder and tilt screen quite often. I am looking for its interchangeable lens companion. Another problem with the FP is the lack of wireless which I think is just laziness of Sigma. The chip would have cost less than a few dollars. Perhaps we will see a Mark 2 coming soon from Sigma.

I enjoyed this review very much. I currently have a FF Nikon D700 which I adore and will never part with. That said, this intrigues me because of the size, the dynamic range output, with 24.6 mp (more than enough for me!), and the 45 mm lens, it seems like the perfect camera for quality travel photos. One that you can take anywhere!

Thanks for this review 👍🏻 Hoping FP II is right around the corner now. Sigma don’t have a professional film camera line to protect, so I’m dreaming of a bit bigger body, good auto focus, IBIS and/or internal ND, full size HDMI (or SDI), built in EVF, flipping screen, time code sync port, a sensor with faster read out (maybe faveon?)🤞🏻😅

Hey Peter. I've both an X100T and the Sigma. My thought for you is to try and put your hands on each. As Richard said, they are both quite different. If you want a very small, photo-centric, take with you everywhere camera, in the spirit of rangefinders of old, then the Fuji is really hard to beat. I'll always have one. Love the leaf shutter. Love the hybrid viewfinder. Love the size. Love the fixed focal length. Love the color of images I get out of it. It's a dream of a little camera. The Sigma on the other hand is just such a quirky thing. At its most basic, it's the core of a camera that you then build up to what you need it for. Bolt it to a drone? Sure. Wrap a cage around it, put on a mic, ssd drive, etc, and run and gun video shoot? Sure. Take everything off, and use it as a "casual" point and shoot? Sure. Use the optional viewfinder (Odd looking, but awesome), and take slower stills? You bet. Other cameras might be better functionally, but none are as interesting or as flexible.

Thanks for the review... I am wondering the plan the L-mount members have in mind... We have 3 camera & lenses makers... (1) Leica: * APSC Camera & Lenses : Leica TL? * FF Cameras & Lenses : SL2 (for pro)... Will Leica announce a "S5" camera version as well, a more cheap and/or entry-level FF Cameras. Leica lenses are premium... price... (2) Panasonic: * APSC Camera & Lenses : won't go there... they have their M43 line of products (lenses and cameras) * FF Cameras & Lenses : S5 (entry-Level FF => a good idea!!!), S1 & S1R (Pro ), S1H (filmaking and videomaking).. (3) Sigma * APSC / APSH : Will Sigma replace the Quattro H : L-mount and Bayer or Foveon Sensor * FF : Sigma FP (filmaking and videomaking). What would like to see in a future Sigma FP Mark II ( a body like the S1H)... Will Sigma replace the SD1 (mirrorless version) with L-mount and Foveon/Bayer sensor? What do you think will happen with the L-mount with the market changing... What they should do keep the alliance and the L-mount system attractive?

it's really too early to say, the L-mount alliance is still quite new and building their first / second gen products.. might take a bit more time to settle down.

hey Charles! Just joined the group!! :). Oh yeah the FP would be a good 2nd camera. The only downside is lack of IBIS so not really good for run and gun unless you use lenses with OIS. But for static, tripod work it's great. Another thing to consider is that if you shoot raw it's DNG RAW so workflow might be a bit different. But apart from that, it should be a really great little 2nd camera
