The Vaisakhi theme at Trafalgar Square, London, on 24 April 2005 was to celebrate the achievements of Sikh Olympians and supporting London’s bid for the 2012 Olympics.
A dinner function was arranged at Indian Gymkhana club a week earlier than the Trafalgar Square event so that all the twenty-nine Sikh Olympians living in the UK could meet each other.
What started as a small gathering of about 35 ended up ended as a function attended by some 150.
Twenty -six Olympians who have competed for Great Britain, India, Kenya and Uganda, in Hockey, Wrestling and Weightlifting attended the event.
