Man when I discovered you guys this past year, the drumming got me hooked because i also play the drums (only have been practicing 2 years). Love the sounds and groovy-ness in your work and love the crazy ghost notes that you do. Has a very tribal feel. Hope you guys keep making music and hope to attend your performance soon.

some 15yrs ago i would play this with my band for practice etc and never saw this vid till now . so fun to finnaly actually see (especially from this angle) some details that i coulnt really hear in audio, which i would then play in my way..

I'm relieved I enjoyed this more than the Alex Rudinger cover😂

Seems like Dan Foord got a little lazy in this live performance. Alex Rudinger's cover is far more intricate. Hard to say who has it right seeming Dan is the one who wrote this. But Alex is pretty good at getting things spot on.

Yeah definitely, I think it's a really sensible idea to compare a prepared cover Alex Rudinger did in the comfort of his home studio to a live show performance by the "lazy" guy who wrote the song in the first place. Don't be such a fucking bore.

David Murphy I wouldn’t say I enjoyed it more, I was relived both were very very close to each other, infact almost exactly the same in terms of notation and musically..... obviously very different recording environments though

Dan Foord thanks for the reply. I noticed that you're not using triggers on the dvd stuff, why is this?
@sikthify
9 жыл бұрын
The triggers work really well for Sikth. But obviously have a bad rep. Unfortunately most people actually listen to music with their eyes not their ears ha ha. So if I used triggers on my DVD it would inevitably put some people off before they even listen to it. My favourite drummer Vinnie Paul from Pantera used them for most of his career and sounded great in my opinion.

Dan Foord I honestly couldn't tell that you were using triggers on DOADD. I hear what you are saying about how people feel about triggers. Last question lol why do you use 2 triggers on the snare and bass drum?
@sikthify
9 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear it doesn't sound overly triggered. There is also loads of real drums and room in the mix so it sounds like me playing. Triggers get a bad rep cause a lot of guys choose samples that sound like skeletons tap dancing on a typewriter. But quantising drums is the bigger problem with so many modern metal records. I basically only have two triggers on the drums as a back up so if one goes down I aint fiddling around trying to sort it out in the dark.

im stating to get into the whole triggering thing and I need some advice. I play with one bass drum (using double bass pedals of course) and I was if I need to hook two triggers on my single bass drum or if I can just use one trigger on my single bass drum and it would still register as two hits?
